Hi, After being with Easyspace for 24 years they have now said that the server space I am allowed is .5gb My map site is about 35gb. They wanted a few hundred pounds a year for the additional space. I cannot do it. I have moved to Hostinger whose charges are quite reasonable. However have my first 2 weeks with them. The first week my website was offline. All is uploaded to my site but I find that I cannot update any pages with Rapidweaver. After countless hours of chat when they recommended FileZilla over my favourite Transmit. Suggesting that I should ftp changes using FileZilla saying the reason why they suggested this is because previously, there’s been an issue related to rapidweaver.
I do not think I move to exporting a site and then doind the ftp. There reply was I understand your concern. You can still ask Rapidweaver for some suggestions to see what we can do from here. You can mention to them that FTP like FileZilla works fine but rapidweaver cannot do the same so they can help give us an insight into what we can do to fix it.
Strange, their website says their Premium hosting has unlimited SSD disk space and it’s only about 5.80 pounds per month. Did they give you a better reason on why they want to charge you a few hundred pounds a year?
Hostinger offers SFTP if you are on one of their Premium plans or higher. Looks like they have a nice Black Friday promotion at the moment which makes their Premium plan $1.95 per month. Cheaper than Easyspace anyway.
If you signed up for a Premium plan or higher, I’d recommend switching over to SFTP, it’s more stable than FTP. They have a guide here How to Connect to Your Hosting Using SFTP | Hostinger Help Center. Just skip over the parts about FileZilla, and enter your SFTP details in RapidWeaver’s publishing settings, then try uploading over SFTP. It usually works.
Thank you so much for giving me some hope. It has been a dreadful fortnight. Do not know anything about SFTP so will look into that. It would be wonderful if it worked. Yes some good Black Friday deals on Hostinger. I signed up for 4 years the cost being equal to about 9 months with Easyspace. It feels quite hurtful when loyalty means nothing these days.
I have been using Hostinger for 3 years now, no issues whatsoever with them, other than they sell your phone contact and I get lots of calls offering to do my web page for me. My site is relatively small compared to others, but never had any down time or issues uploading via Rapidweaver. I do remember initially having to something a bit different in getting to their server, using just number codes (I just don’t remember). So, you may want to talk to another tech and see if you can get this fixed.
I am pleased to report that life has returned to normal. It was Pete’s message that gave me belief that Rapidweavr would work on Hostinger. It does. No need for SFTP. The main problem was that I was given incorrect information a number of times as the path to my website. It was only when I installed FileZilla that I could see the correct path myself. I must admit I have returned to Transmit as it seems to suit my age better. Thanks to Dan G and Pete. This is a lovely family to be a member of.
