How do I update a Global Text Component to be Text Override?

Is there a way to do this? I’ve tried without success. I place the Global, select the text component, change the setting to Global Overrides Text “ON”, but the next time I use the Global that Text component is still “locked”.

It looks like I can’t create a Global Text Component that has Text Override on. That’s too bad because I want to be able to change the text of each instance, and be able to change the formatting of all instances.

Create the Global. Set it as you want it. Set the overrides as you want. Then save as a project template. On your next instance of using it, drag from templates selection instead of globals and you should be good to go.

I have done that and it works, but that does not help me with the multitude of instances where my Global Text component is already in use. I wish I would have understood this setup before I built my site. So is there anyway to change the Text Global now and keep the text I have entered, but have the ability to change it without having to look at each instance and turn on text override?

I believe the globals are designed to be the same, so if you change it in one place, it changes it in all. I have been struck by that a few times. I always have to double check to make sure I have set all the appropriate overrides each time I use it to change it in any one particular usage.

The template will do what you want. Use it, change it, without affecting the other globals. Just make sure you have all the overrides set correctly BEFORE you save it as a template (is how I understand it)

That’s exactly what I have learned. Something that all new users should be made aware of.
