We’ve seen quite a few posts recently where users are asking for help but not giving enough details for anyone to actually solve the problem…
To save everyone time, here’s the best way to ask for help on the forum:
Create a Clear Post Title
Something like “Need help styling the navigation component” works much better than “Help. It’s broken!”.
Explain the Issue
Tell us what you’re trying to do, what you expected, and what actually happened.
Share Your Project
Add an Elements Cloud link so others can open your project and see what’s going on.
Share a Live URL (if applicable)
If the site is published, include the link. Sometimes issues only show up on a live site.
Add Screenshots or Recordings
A quick screenshot or short video can be a huge help.
Be Specific
The more detail you include, the quicker you’ll get accurate help.
Why Details Matter
Asking for help without sharing the Elements Project or live URL is a bit like rolling up to a garage and saying, “My car’s making a funny noise, can you fix it?” but then not showing the mechanic the actually car.
Sure, they could take a wild guess. They might suggest topping up the oil, tightening a belt, or just turning the radio up so you can’t hear it anymore. But without looking under the bonnet, they’re working blind.
That’s exactly what it’s like when asking for website help without sharing the details. We don’t need the keys, but we do usually need to see the engine
Try Self Help First
Don’t forget we’ve got a full manual and loads of videos covering everything from getting started to advanced design tips. Many questions have already been answered there, so checking the manual or watching a short video might get you unstuck even faster!
The manual and videos are always being updated, so are a great first stop
Follow the above guide, and you’ll not only get better answers, you’ll get them much faster.
I’m wondering if my original post came across wrong, haha. It was meant to speed up the help process, not make you feel bad… please don’t apologise, we’re always happy to help, we’re just trying to make the process a little smoother for everyone
Thanks for this great tip, and all the help you in particular and other members in the forum/community have given - is so helpful to me and everyone else. I have been guilty of some of your examples. I only ask for specific help when I just can’t manage what it suggests in the brilliant tutorials, or I can’t find one - sometimes I’ve found a horizontally scrolling library, no index or thumbnails, - I think there are about 20 video tutorials, on another occasion I have found vertically listed thumbnails of anything from 45 to 100+ videos, but cannot find the latter, mostly having to use the horizontal menu-type slider. The manual is pretty good now with relevant video tutorials and some of the text is clearer now and much more detailed. Some features are missing and others are headings only, at the moment…eg I wanted to find out exactly how the reveal option worked…I did manage to get it to work through dogged persistence…I would have asked eventually, hence a recent title for help was something like ‘Desperately need help with Modals’ - and you made me a video, brilliant! The humour and analogies you give are great, too.
Hello Dan,
For many years I used Rapidweaver to make a website. I followed you new elements. I tried to build a beginning of a website. I didn’t succeed. I Follow the evolution, but I use rapid weaver from now. It is easier for simple private website-builders to use rwc.
Greetings,
Hello Dan, Something terrible happened to me. My old Mac hard drive broke, and I can’t restore it from Time Machine anymore. So my RapidWeaver is gone too…and I have to reinstall it on another Mac. I don’t think I can register it on the other Mac anymore, since it can only be licensed on two Macs. Can you please help me? I think my licens email ist sefa@pekelli.com
