Why is the online editor seeking the file

this is due to an issue with rewrites in the htacess file and your server. Could you let me know who you are hosting your site with?
It is selfhosted on my own Mac servers I use MAMP and also Cloudflare. Rocket was causing some other issues
Please update to Elements 2.4.1 and see if that fixes the issue for you.
Be sure to use the “Re-publish All Files” option in the file menu.
