I just purchased elements

I have purchased elements pro (I think that’s the version I bought) and as time and health permit I’m going to be diving in… I will be moving my RW classic site to elements. It’ll be a lot to learn for an old guy, but I think I’ve got it in me (or at least enough braincells left) :joy:

February 2026 was my 46th year in business. I have always maintained our website since I guess, websites were invented… Only this one website and I don’t think it’s ever been a great website. I have been iterating the same website for many many years… i’m pretty sure it probably breaks many many rules…

My current website: www.jonesxray.com

Is using the multithemes “plan” theme. Any critiques would be appreciated and you cannot hurt my feelings… This would also truly help me move forward…

Since this will be my last, I think I’ve learned enough after all these years to do what I hope is a really good if not great website.

My question(s) are, what is the general consensus?

Multiple choice: 1-4

  1. Most of the elements tutorials start from scratch. I’m thinking that is the best way versus using a theme. I sort of think that @dan would probably agree…

  2. I was also thinking of using the beta classic import option in elements to move resources and structure, but still start from scratch with a clean blank project… OR, would I just be copying my past mistakes…?

  3. I’ve been looking at the available themes in the elements store and I’ve always been partial to multithemes in RW classic. I’m just wondering since elements appears to be so capable, do I really need a theme…? Or would it be best for my (old) use case?

  4. So the other night I fired up ChatGPT. I was dumbfounded at how brilliantly I was able to create multiple website banner images with incredible detail just by feeding the AI with some information. It blew me away… Chat asked me what platform I would be using and I said rapidweaver elements. I could tell right away that I was being given detail that looked like RW classic so I ask the AI. Once I clarified that which was key, you’ve got to be very clear. This AI is in the process of writing customized elements structure that looks very legit if not a great guide. Not that the elements docs aren’t great, but these appear to be customized for JONES X-RAY!

I’m just getting started and I’m still at the playing stage, but I seriously think there’s definitely something to this. I mean we all know about AI, but I had no idea… Then I started a look at open claw… OMG!

Quick rat hole - I first started using apples included website tool I don’t remember it’s name… It’s hard to remember the other developers I’ve worked with in the past. The GREAT Will Woodgate for one, and another guy that was amazing… Maybe his name come to me.

Anyway, there you have it and I’ve made it simple. 1, 2, 3, 4

Again, any critiques of my existing website and your multiple choice answer would be greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind that RW Classic “themes” ≠ Elements “themes”.

2 totally different things.

Yes, I’ve become very aware of that and it really set me down… Not in a bad way, more like I really didn’t want to learn anything else at this point of my life kind of way…

My current occupation is semi retired and playing with grandkids which I’m really good at!

Just like you age n early 70 retired nurse, runs a micro business through website which gives the grandkids bank of grandad and pays for granddads taxis!

Website reminds me of working life! Multithemes do Elements projects look here https://www.multithemes.com/ which can be bought and gives you a start if you want a help that way.

Good luck!

Congratulations on your new adventure - we will help and answer questions

Don’t know about the beta import (honestly)

If possible I would put objects into folders under resources:

audio
images
banners
svg
Etc….

Be nice to start fresh but copy over your content…

On my first pass…. I would have classic open - then copy paste text into elements… works well

Please watch the getting started videos!!!

They are very helpful for learning….

Elements can look busy - if you have all the panels open - but when you start to use it - they make sense..

Clicking on the top you can move the panels for your particular workflow and what works best for you!

If you want I can help you get started…

Take the time and make ‘template’ pages with globals

Then when the template pages with globals are finished - duplicate and copy in content…

Structure of a simple page:

Menu per page (is a global)
Perhaps Hero with text floating in…
Header per page
Content per page
Footer per page (is a global)
