Image size and text size these days?

For inside webpages….

I’ve been doing 400px - too small?

Just curious what others are doing…

Thanx

Depends if it needs retina support and if it is a banner or not. In general I use 1600px for banners and around 800-1000 for anything else.

I added text size to title…

Are you changing sizes of text for different screens?

Yes, of course. From base or below to 3xl or 4xl…

Hi @MichaelDroste

I am using roughly the same picture sizes as already mentioned.

For banners I mostly use 1344x768 as this is a 16:9 format and mostly is quality wise high enough for my needs. If I need higher quality I go op to 1920x1080.

For the website pictures I am using 680 in 2 column designs and 480 in 3 column designs. That gives me again roughly the 1344 pixel.

What I am doing always is compressing the pictures rather aggressively. When then the picture quality is too low I see it and can increase it. When the picture quality is too good I don’t see and it potentially affects my page speed. What I am always doing at the end is using an automated picture compressing service. I am using https://tinypng.com which gives me especially with PNG file an additional compression rate of up to 60% (only PNG).

The text sizes I also change but mostly for the headings. The base text I (mostly) leave it to the pre-set 16px (1 rem).

Thank You all…

Going to make images larger… and play around more with text…

I was hoping people would set their browsers to use the size font they wanted
IE: minimal 18pt font etc…
