I have an inexplicable problem. Images just disappear. They show up in the editor, but not in the preview. They become visible in the preview when the property is changed from “original” to “custom.” But even then, the image doesn’t appear in the web browser.
I experienced this behavior a long time ago. The problem suddenly went away, though. I can’t say for sure if it’s related to an update, but it’s possible.
The project also can’t be uploaded. Unfortunately, the error message is incomplete.
The images can’t have the wrong file extension, since they’ve been displayed and published online for weeks or even months. I mainly use JPG and PNG images.
There should also be enough storage space available in the cloud. According to the display, there’s still 690 MB free, and the project only takes up 181.6 MB.
What is the specific full name of the image file? How did it get into Elements (choose, drag, etc.)? If you do a Get Info on the file outside of Elements what does it show?
The image is named Mehrgenerationenparken.jpg. I always move images first to a subfolder in the Resources section and only then into the Image element. This helps keep the Resources folder organized.
But this is completely crazy. Now the error has disappeared again. I can also upload the project to the cloud again. The error started yesterday, and I’ve definitely rebooted my Mac at least five times and cleared the caches. It’s great that everything’s working again, but why? As I mentioned before, this problem has popped up and disappeared month before.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t solved after all. Suddenly, the problem has reappeared. Uploading to the cloud isn’t working again either.
Here’s what I did: I stopped the upload to the cloud by quitting Elements. After that, I took care of a few other things and reopened Elements. Then the problem was back. Uploading to the cloud wasn’t working either.
I then deleted the cache folder in the Library and rebooted the Mac. After that, everything worked again. But here’s what’s strange: even though I deleted the test page, when I clicked “Upload All Files,” 3,395 files were uploaded—previously it was always 3,374 files. Something seems to be wrong with the file management here.
Unfortunately, there’s more to it. Take a look at these screenshots. When I just view a page in Elements without making any changes, the “modified” indicator often appears. The following situation is really strange: Since some images were missing on the web and I saw the “modified” indicator, I uploaded them. The result: 0 of 132 files published, but the backup is being saved. So there was a connection to the server.
I closed Elements and reopened it, and now I see that 184 files are being transferred. Something is fundamentally wrong here.
