Having been bitten before by an upgrade changing the default behaviour I decided to look at the HTML code and I found this fragment interesting. <img class=“max-w-[100%] w-full border-t-0 border-r-0 border-b-0 border-l-0 border-solid rounded-tl-lg rounded-tr-lg rounded-bl-lg rounded-br-lg border-surface-500/[100%] object-center aspect-[1.5003663301467896]” src=“../resources/autumn-leaves/dsc_5774_2_dxo@800.jpg” alt=“” width=“2048” height=“1365” decoding=“async” /
Now the question is why rescale the resource to 800px but still leave width/height as the original values?
I would also be inclined to say that your use of fixed sizes for the down scaled images is also a bug and that they should be fractions of the original instead. It shouldn’t be 800px but 1/4 of the original.
I don’t believe that it gives me any flexibility. Flexibility exists when I’m in control not you. As it stands I would prefer a switch to turn off all this fiddling with my images and let me do it if I want to do it.
Glad you are adding this to the tracker. I agree not a bug, just first version.
I’m not a software developer, but I can imagine that it can be challenging because of the diversity in users. You have users that just want it to work out of the box with minimal things for them to do and then you have those that want to get under the hood and tweak every possible thing.
Right now it works out of the box with not too much to fiddling. The ability to override default settings is great for those who like more control, but it also requires more programming on your end to make sure changing those settings doesn’t produce the wrong result.
It also takes time… Those of us who want it now can have difficulties with that. But I have to say the active development that you guys pour into this software is amazing and the direct involvement with your user base is the best I’ve seen.
Thank you so much for the kind words, this really means a lot to everyone here
It can certainly be hard to juggle all users needs, but as you can tell we’re hell-bent on making sure Elements is hands-down the best Website Builder for Mac. We’re going to keep pushing forward and shipping updates as fast as we can. Lots more good stuff to come!
Anyway, it’s messages like this that make it all worthwhile, this has made my Friday.
