I think I may be missing something fundamental here, but I can’t seem to access all the fonts on my Mac, as I did in Classic. I’m trying to use Gill Sans, but Font Book will only export the .ttc collection which Elements won’t accept as a custom font.
Yes, that’s what I’ve been trying to unpick. So Elements cannot use the installed fonts on my computer in the same way that all my other design software (and “Classic”) does?
Thanks for persevering! The font is part of the Gill Sans family of fonts in a collection called a .ttc My Mac (or rather the Font Book app on my Mac) refuses to export individual fonts, only the whole collection.
If all the fonts should be available, as you seem to be suggesting, then perhaps this isn’t an Elements problem at all, but a Mac Font Book problem. I may be looking in the wrong place…
You can specify this as a standard system font, however it would only work on computers that have Gill Sans installed. Perhaps this is what you were doing in Classic?
If you want to go that route in Elements, you can do the following in the theme studio:
I’ve got the font working, but only by importing it as a custom font (after splitting up the .ttc file installed on my Mac).
Previously in Classic, I found the installed-on-my-machine fonts available without the export/import process. I must either have done something wrong, I’m misunderstanding the whole thing (most likely explanation) or my Mac has taken exception to the Elements app.
The main thing is I have the font I chose fully functioning!
