Installing templates ... HOW TO

RapidWeaver Elements 0.9.7 (23616)
I recently subscribed to Elements app.
How do I install templates? I cannot even install a “free” template… so I am afraid to attempt to purchase a $50 template.

@larryg

So when you click on a free template either in the store or through Elements they should should just download. Just save them as a project to your local drive

Steve, yes , from the elements store the template will indeed OPEN in elements.
HOWEVER, the template will NOT SAVE to the NEW PROJECT page.
How do i make the template save to the elements program, so when I am not online I can access the template?

@larryg

see below, I seem to have an issue accessing the free projects in the store within elements , so Marketplace works @ben

Is the issue with the words Template and Project?

North Eleven is not a template/theme in the RW sense of the word, it is a whole project so when you click New Project it will never be there. It will however be in your recent list if you clicked Open in Elements from Market Place and then did a Save As on to your hard drive as the video above shows from the 7s mark. (The videos you upload Steve are really useful to understand an issue btw).

I am not even sure how templates will work in Elements because any contents on a page will have something in them, even ‘ipsum dim sum’, so in effect they will actually be projects.

I have treated the free projects in Market Place as the base files for building on while finding my way in Elements and understanding how it works, rather than starting with a blank page, so in a way I have used them as I would have used a template/theme in RW but I see them as being quite a different thing.

ok I see your reference to RW and the ability pick from the list

I have not purchased a paid project, assume it will download and you save as per the free project

If you download North Eleven you can then apply themes see video (hopefully doesnt complicate)

not even looked at this, other than when watching Dan’s videos, my understanding you will be able to create your own or download???

takes a while to get to everything, as above, I have not even looked or tried themes

It’s all in a name isn’t it. Those six themes inbuilt to Elements are simply style changes while a theme in RW sets up things like headers, menu and side bars.

I suppose it is better to just forget all of the Rapidweaver naming conventions otherwise there will be confusion.

That’s what I did, new software new approach, a lot easier that way

Unfortuntely, they do not download to my local drive. The project will open, but will not appear in the “project” window.

Are you saying the project does not save. I assume if you create a project that saves

Typically, you have to do a Save As and then save it to some location on your machine. After that it should show in the project window when you next launch Elements.

That’s what I showed in the video above, not sure why Larry cannot save
