Introduce yourself!

Hi Dan and You all, I’m a former Primary School Principal and I use RW Classic for several years for personal subjects like my grandmother history or a short movie I did in my twenties.

I live in Levis, Quebec, Canada and I am a French talking man. I can understand English quite well and I like to learn about new technologies, AI, robotics, etc.

I am a Mac user since the early years and I like very much Rapid Weaver for its ease of use and versatility. I regret Foundry 3 like many others but Elements appears to be a great alternative.

You did a great job and I intend to use it as much as I can. Thanks again.

Hi. Dan (and everyone else who has found this post - though I am not sure it is in the correct place).

I’m Mike (Grant) a definite ‘Newbie’ and will use this forum a great deal over the next few weeks as I recreate my ‘Classic site’ to Elements. Elements looks to be a fantastic program, though I am finding it a challenge to use at the moment. I have always been a Mac User, and developed my first Church website some 25+ years ago using RapidWeaver v3 (!!!) and Stacks. I recently offered to rebuild my current church’s website and found RapidWeaver v9 Classic. Our current website is made using Classic, Stacks and Foundry3. Being old and a little thick, I found this awkward to use, but persevered with many work-arounds to achieve what I had in mind. I have watched the development of the Elements Beta, and comments and the Dev Diary vids, when it became v1.0, I decided it was time to commit. So here I am again!I

I read some of the other introductions, and I’m very taken back… they are some amazing people. I used RapidWeaver before it was “Classic” and (something over 12 years ago) I built a personal website, stuck it on GoDaddy, and pretty much just left it there. I didn’t want to switch to Elements but… well… the website started looking a little dusty, and if I am going to do a significant overhaul, I might as well use Elements and rebuild the entire thing. I’m over 70 so it’s going to be slow as I learn the application. I hope it does not take me too long or I may be finished before it is. OK, now let’s see how easy this thing is…

Hello, my name is Daniel. I’m from Germany and have been using RapidWeaver since 2011 to publish my lost-places photography on www.dubtown.de. For me, it’s still the best tool for creating websites. I’m still working with RapidWeaver Classic.

Welcome here Daniel (@dubtown)
I just had a look at your website. Great photos of the lost-places! Will have a closer look the next days as I am also a photographer in my spare time.

Welcome,

I too am over 70 and trying to keep up with the developments in web design as a hobby is impossible. My first design was hand coding HTML and my last design that I am now updating was in RW 8. Elements has be much easier and more rewarding and fun to use. No need to use any of the old code but you can, if you want to incorporate it into your page.

Good luck with your update and everyone is really helpful here if you need it.

Hi Folks, my name is Terry Manning. I live in Central Texas. I am new to RapidWeaver and Elements. I bought a license for Elements mid-January of this year and updated to the 2.0 beta 1 today. I have been spending time catching up on the Forum, watching Elements YT videos and following along with Thom Hogan’s book on Elements CMS (well done Mr. Hogan. I enjoy your style and appreciate your hard work).

Most of my experience with web development tools were for corporate technical training, online help and supporting a software company’s web presence (mostly using Dreamweaver and other Macromedia products that later were bought and merged with Adobe software).

In recent years, I’ve developed and maintained a personal website of articles that is really showing its age (using Dreamweaver with Project VII extensions).

After deciding to make the effort to develop a responsive website and do a heavy edit of the things that I have published, I did my homework and settled on RapidWeaver Elements. Today I was pleased to read that RapidWeaver is going to offer a hosting solution for Elements. I’d like to sign up when this is available so I can transfer my domain and park while upgrading my website in Elements.

The respectful tone and commitment to support RapidWeaver users really stands out at this forum. I’m looking forward to learning from y’all (31 years living in Texas ;-).

Hi all,

I’m Jan Scheffer from the Netherlands. I have been using Classic for a couple of years now and since about half a year I’m using Elements. I’m not a professional webdeveloper but a Logistics consultant building my own website. So for me no high standards so far just want to present my company / myself to (potential) clients. So far so good, but…

I have been working in my field op business (logistics) for 50 years now and I did build a website in elements, that needed to have high(er) standards as for my network and potential number of views. So far I managed, but the devil is in the detail, in short: I need help. Website is online, so I will post a question in the relative topic.

As for all of you: Have a lot of fun creating beautiful websites!

Welcome @ziplock and @jan_s :waving_hand:

It’s great to have you both here.

@ziplock that’s quite a journey through web tools! We’re working hard on the upcoming hosting, so when it’s ready we’ll make plenty of noise about it. Delighted to have you onboard.

@jan_s 50 years in logistics is impressive!!! You’re absolutely right, the devil is in the detail, especially when the audience and expectations rise.

Looking forward to seeing what you both build
