This means when you use google fonts th IP adress of you website visitor is transmitted to Google. As this address is a personal identification data, this is only allowed when the website visitor consent to this. Not getting consent may get you a fine in certain countries and circumstances in Europe. So the easiest way is to self host the fonts.
Aha, thanks for the explanation! I’m in the EU and prefer not to use any cookies or content/use of other websites, because then I do not need any consent from the visitor. That is another good reason to host the fonts myself (in the project).
