Is this a bug in Text Colors?

I am just creating a new template and I defined my own color set like below

So there are my own colours for brand, accent, surface and text.

When I am using now these new colours everything works as expected but not for the text color.

When I change in my project the text color to text it looks correct

When I deselect now my text and go back and select it again, I then see in the color field the original color of the theme and not my defined color. That has no influence on the text of the page, here everything is ok. When I am using the other self defined colours like accent, brand and surface they do not show these behaviour, they work as expected. It is only with text.

Is there a bug or is the problem sitting in front of the screen :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s always hard to tell what’s going on with seeing the project. Can you share a sample project with the issue so we can take a look?

Sure, I send it to your mail as it is early stage development and meant for selling :slightly_smiling_face:

Could the problem have something to do with the fact that you have defined your custom TEXT colors in the reverse order to the NORMAL TEXT colors? Yours go from light to dark (left to right), whereas the standard ones are the opposite.

Sure, can you send it to forumsupport@realmacsoftware.com

Could be @handshaper but with all the other self defined colours it’s working fine. I also thought maybe a typo in the word “text” like a hidden space or so. But I keyed in the name again and no change.

@WeaverPixel,

I played around with the file and it all seemed to work just fine. Have you tried restarting Elements?

If it’s still an issue (and I’m not doing it right), can you colour record a video of the bug in action so I can see exactly how to re-create it!

Thanks @dan and @handshaper for the quick look!

I restarted Elements and everything works.
So the problem was sitting in front of the screen

I also will change the bold marking of the text as you suggested. Don’t know why I used it today, normally I don’t do it. Maybe time to finish working.

Haha, no problem, glad you got it sorted!

To replicate it:

Hi @dan

I just replicated it again. Setup a new project as @Doobox did. The effect is as shown in his video. Then saving the file, closing Elements and open it again. The effect is gone.

This effect is shown only on “text” not on others like surface.

Maybe what @handshaper wrote is the root cause. The originally defined text colors are the only ones which go from dark to bright, all the others go from bright to dark.
