If not, what would you recommend for checking site links from within RW6?

I check all my links by hand. Even the smartest plugin isn’t going to know if you’ve linked to the wrong thing! Having said that, Cos Culture is a good developer so I would be pretty confident that this would do as good a job as any other plugin.
You could just use https://validator.w3.org/checklink

What you say makes perfect sense - just that I also like the convenience of having a ‘local’ checker.
Although Link Inspector does seem expensive… :-(.
