Linking a Google sheet to a web page?

In the past (perhaps 5-10 years ago), there were solutions (Grid Iron and PlusKit in Classic) for creating a web page in RapidWeaver from a Google sheet, but those solutions seemed to not be able to keep up with newer changes in the URL format of the Google sheet. And if Grid Iron 4 currently works, there doesn’t seem to be an upgrade path (other than an outright purchase) from Grid Iron 3 (which I currently own). Unfortunately, there’s been no response to attempts to contact the Grid Iron 3 author through an online form. Does anyone have such a Google sheet solution (for either Classic or Elements)?

We’re working on a free update to the built-in table component in Elements so that it can display data from a Google Sheet, is this what you need?

Good to hear, you are working on the table component. It has huge potential but is too basic as for now. It would definitely help, if the cells of a row could stack in the mobile breakpoint. The extension with sheets would be definitely a win, too.

Looking from a GDPR perspective, can you support local hosted .csv files as well, please? @dan @ben

I should think so

Hi Dan,

I would prefer to display data from a Google Sheet, but I also need to have cells on the web page to be clickable links. Currently, I can display data on a web page that’s produced by the Grid Iron 3 stack from an Excel sheet (which has clickable links), but they’re not clickable on the resultant web page via the Grid Iron 3 stack.

So, there are three goals:

(a) produce a web page from (preferably) a Google Sheet, but alternatively, an Excel sheet or a CSV file and

(b) the resultant web page has a cell which is a clickable link

I don’t own either Joe Workman’s Weaver Space Power Grid or Power Grid CSV stack, so I don’t know if either have the desired capabilities I’m seeking and whether they’re currently still supported.

(c) I’m a hobbyist and not a pro, and am averse to a large expenditure of capital to achieve these goals. I already have a lot invested in RapidWeaver stuff over almost 20 years of personal use, and for now, would like to find a non-Elements solution. I appreciate that you indicate that you’re investing in a “built-in table component in Elements,” but I don’t know (1) if that will address my issue, (2) whether this component is available in the cheapest tier of Elements or it’s something that’s only part of the Pro path, and, of course, (3) when this component will really be available in a finished form.

Thanks.

Jim
