I have noticed when you have a link in a modal and click on it you will be taken to the destination of the link but the modal will be left open on the screen.
How does one close a modal when linking out?
Modals are very handy, but they are very hard to work with because you have to show them to access the content. I wish there was a way to build the content like any other page in the editor, and then somehow link to that page within the modal. This would greatly simplify the creation process and the associated pain.
