Local Project page is corrupted

My local project on my desktop is corrupted, The live server page is correct. How do I replace the corrupted age on my computer with the correct live page that is on the server. This is using RW8. Once I have the corrected page I can update it.

Hi @cool182,

There’s not a way to import already exported pages back into RapidWeaver. The only way you might be able to retrieve that page is via a backup. If you had backups enabled in RapidWeaver’s publishing settings, then there should be a backup of your project file stored on your web hosting account in your website’s home folder. Check your publishing settings in RapidWeaver and check what you have for the “Backup Frequency” setting.

If it’s set to “Never”, then perhaps try checking for any Time Machine backups on your Mac if you have Time Machine enabled. Or perhaps you have a backed up copy of the project file stored in some Cloud storage somewhere that you can retrieve.

Hope that helps.

Can you edit the HTML?
When I tried to.
It would not let me edit Within RW edit
Or was I not trying to edit the right way?

What are you trying to edit exactly? Is it just 1 page in the project file that is corrupted, and where and how is that content corrupted in RW? Can you post some screenshots showing what you are trying to edit so everybody can take a look? Also maybe post a comparison of how it looks online (the correct version) vs. how it looks in your project file (the corrupted version).

Further sleuthing, the problem is that in the RW8 preview mode, part of the “Artful” them layout and pic shows up in th first part of the page, This should not be showing up or I need to edit it out of the theme for my project. Where is the them editor to eliminate the lady in the brown leather coat?

trying to send pics but when I choose reply after attaching I get this error
“An error occurred: Sorry, you can’t embed media items in a post.” how do I send screen shots?

There’s a post here that might help RW 8 - Artful Banner text - #2 by teefers

In the YouTube video, skip to the 1:15 mark where it shows how to open the Page Inspector. Follow along and if you scroll down in the Page Inspector you should see an option to hide the banner. This is on a per page basis. If you need to hide the banner site wide, you can do that via the project file >> Settings >> Master Style >> Scroll down to the Banner section and select the Hide box.

The video helped but the major complaint here is that while in the edit mode, you do not see the default site banner,
The override site banner in the settings is selected and the dragable box is blank, I want it blank and do not want the default nor do I want to place the pic, just lose it.

How come the edit mode looks like I want it but when in preview mode, the default pic and color shows up?

What happens when you check this box?

That did the trick, now dealing with some blocks issues but thanks for helping with the hide box

Great, happy to hear that resolved it.

Regarding Blocks, if you are referring to the plugin, what problems are you having with it? We’ve had multiple reports that Blocks is no longer working in RapidWeaver Classic (causing RW to crash when trying to view the page in edit or preview mode). Since we don’t develop that plugin, our advice has been to remove the Blocks pages from your project and replace them with either a built-in page type, or the Stacks plugin. The Blocks plugin hasn’t been updated since 2021 I believe, whereas Stacks is kept more up to date.

Thanks for the reply

For some context this started with RW8 crashing on OS 14.6
Partially got a version to cooperate on OS 12.6 and finally by some chance we had a another machine running OS 13.3 that by chance had a current version of the site.
Got our changes done and all seems ok now.
Backups have been made and just wanted to thanks for the support and a few reminders on where to find features.
