macOS Screenshot placement bug

I have found that while the Elements splash screen (see pic 1) is displayed, any screenshot icons produced by Command-Shift-4, places the icon on top of whatever is in the top right corner of my screen.
As soon as I close the Elements splash screen and do another screenshot, the problem goes away.
Strange.
Cheers.

I wish to add a little more to this.
I have discovered 5 other applications I use also have the same issue. One of those programs is Apple Photos. I have made Apple aware of this and they will get back to me, soon I hope. I will then forward any helpful info to Elements.

wish I could even see what the problem actually is hahaha

if you could provide a video of the bug in action that would be most helpful.

David, if you read the first in this topic you will see it is about screenshots done using Command,-Shift-4.
Cheers

Dan, In relation to the Topic “A problem with the Splash Screen”, don’t know how to do some of the stuff you requested under Troubleshooting, so I used WeTransfer to send a movie of the problem to your email.
I suppose I should mention that I use a 2019, 16", MacBook Pro 32GB RAM and 2 TB HD. It has the latest Mac OS. and I am using Elements 0.7.7.
Cheers.

I know exactly what command shift 4 does…what I said was I cant see your problem cos it doesnt happen to me…nor with apple photos!!!

Thanks for the video sent via email. The issue is 100% a system bug and nothing to do with Elements as we have no control over system screenshots or where is places them in the Finder.

Yes, I have always thought it was an Apple problem. I have been dealing with them on this issue for about 2 years with no result. However, the fact I discovered just recently that one of their own programs, Apple Photos, has the problem too, perhaps now we might get it fixed. I would be interested to know if your Apple Phots has the same issue. Just ope Photos then immediately do a Command-Shift-4 screen shot of anything on the desktop and see where the icon is placed in the top right corner of the desktop. Certainly the Apple Support lady I spoke to had the same problem on her computer.

Thanks David,
Can I ask what mac you have?

apple studio max 2 I am trying to work out what you say about ‘places the icon on top of whatever is in the top right corner of my screen.’ what icon? do you mean the small image of the screenshot you’ve just taken? if that is what your referring to my icon/image goes bottom right even in affinity apps…you can set a timer on it to go away none/5sec/10sec

The icon I refer to is the screenshot icon. Currently, my HD icon is in the top Right of my Desktop screen and the final screenshot icon is placed on top of the HD icon.
I have the floating thumbnail of the screenshot turned off. If it is turned on, for a few seconds a thumbnail appears at the bottom right of the desktop screen, then places the final screenshot icon on top of my HD icon.

mine never appears at the top always bottom right. and I have it set via the option settings in command shift 5 to go off after 5 seconds

Dan, I have tried this Command-Shift-4 issue on my new M4 Mini Mac and the problem no longer exists. However, it does still exist on my Intel MacBook Pro.

why this post??
I refer back to dans comment

Yup, it’s a macOS issue, nothing to do with Elements, sorry I can’t be of more help on this one.

Hope you’re enjoying the M4 mini, they are super powerful little machines :flexed_biceps:
