Is there a pdf file user manual?
The on-line tutorials are much too fast.
Is there a pdf file user manual?
The on-line tutorials are much too fast.
Have a look on the menu bar on the left here in the forum, there are links to the manuals.
For Elements you can follow this link
https://docs.realmacsoftware.com/elements-docs
Its not a PDF but a website
Press pause!![]()
The link provided simply gets me to the website tutorials, and these are simply very brief demos for some feature, but are useless for understanding how elements works.
Is there really no info file to help new users understand how to use this app?
For example: how do I add Resources. Why does my Elements have no edit menu on the right? etc…
@elementsbot help Tom here
Hey Tom!
You’re in luck, the Elements Manual is ready to save the day. Dive into the Elements Docs — it’s packed with everything from getting started to advanced features.
As for adding resources or that elusive edit menu, let’s troubleshoot.
Adding Resources: Within Elements, drag and drop your files directly into the Resources section of your project. It should show up in the project tree or in a sidebar as you’re building your site.
Edit Menu: If the Edit Menu isn’t showing, you might want to ensure that the latest version of Elements is installed. Sometimes features can hide behind updates. If it’s a ghost, you might wanna contact the friendly humans at support@realmacsoftware.com for deeper mysteries.
And remember, it’s okay to pause those tutorials (despite their enthusiasm). If you have more questions, hit me up! ![]()
All the “menu’s are moveable and can be set up exactly the way you want them save as your own and then each time you open a project hey presto everything’s ready to go to suit your workflow. If you edit menu is not there thats because you either have it closed ( press open menu button top left in screenshot below or you haven’t clicked on a component so it doesn’t know what to show. Hope this helps and dont forget if you get stuck just ask here or have a private chat with @elementsbot

You’ve got the dream team helping out, but let’s recap and expand a bit!
Adding Resources: Grab your files and drop them straight into the Resources area of Elements. They’ll pop up in the project tree or sidebar. It’s like magic, without the wand.
Edit Menu MIA?: Make sure you’re updated to the latest and greatest version of Elements. Menus can be shy if you haven’t clicked on a component yet. Also, check out PMUK’s tip – the menus are like ninjas, ready to be dragged and customized to fit your whimsy.
If you’re still puzzled, the Elements Manual is your trusty sidekick. It’s not a PDF, but it’s got lots of wisdom. Dive into the Elements Docs for deep knowledge.
And remember, you can always shout out to the friendly humans at support@realmacsoftware.com or have a private chat with me if things get hairy. ![]()
Also if you watch this dev diary see link below it will show you how to make your workspace your own then go to MAIN - see image below and save it as your one that opens each project top of menu bar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EGPQV0G2T4&list=PLlqV01jBZsjAYExt2BRxY1g4k_7hBeUUf&index=43&pp=iAQB

The Elements manual is probably not perfect, but I found within 30 seconds the answer how to add resources. Maybe you should give it another try.
Markus @elementsbot gave him the answer above too! Elements is in development as you know and extra things are added each week but a lot of new creators dont use the search function nor @elementsbot to get help. The manual is an ever evolving merry go round and will get better. Keep up your great work youre doing here!
Hey there, Tom!
It looks like you’ve got quite the convo going on about the Elements Manual and getting to grips with the app. Let me add my two cents:
Manuals & Resources: The Elements Docs are your best bet for comprehensive info. They’re constantly updated, evolving like a fine digital wine.
Check out Elements Docs for all the nitty-gritty details.
Adding Resources: As others have noted, just drag and drop. Super easy, like adding sprinkles to your ice cream. ![]()
Elusive Menus: Menus might be hiding because you need to click on a component or because they’ve been closed. Use the “open menu” button to reveal them if they’re playing hide-and-seek.
Remember, the Elements community here is super supportive. If you’re stuck, just holler! And hey, if anything new crops up in your Elements journey, I’m here in the forum, ready to assist. ![]()
If you need more help, keep the convo going here or swing by support@realmacsoftware.com for human support. Happy building!
I know, Paul. But I was a little annoyed by the thread opener’s statement that there was nothing useful to be found under the link. Anyway, the thread opener got the answer to his questions, so lets move on
.
I think that the elements staff are so good with this app that they can not appreciate that it is not automatic for new users.
Example: a simple pdf intro file could have explained the name and function of the icons in the top menu bar. I have listened to most of the video files, and am still unclear as to what some of them do. After I have exhausted all your videos I may actually get to know them, but it seems a slow way to learn.
Sorry the Documentation isn’t up to scratch yet, we’re still working on it and doing our best to fill the gaps.
In the meantime, if you get stuck, post here on the forum and we’ll help you out ![]()
