I have built many websites using RapidWeaver (older versions and now RapidWeaver Classic). For a more complex project, I asked a friend who works with WordPress to create the website taiji-online.com.
The most challenging part was setting up a subscription system where members automatically gain access to one new video each week, while still keeping access to all previous weeks’ videos. For example, in week 4, subscribers should still be able to watch the videos from weeks 1, 2, and 3.
He did create the site, but I’m not satisfied with the result. There are layout issues, but the main problem is the membership management system. Payments are handled through Stripe, and the videos are hosted on YouTube (I would have preferred using Vimeo).
So now I’m wondering whether it would be possible for me to rebuild the site myself using RapidWeaver Classic or RapidWeaver Elements, and which stack (or combination of stacks) I should use to handle subscriptions and membership management properly.
Sitelok is generally the third-party solution people recommend to build out a member system with member-management.
It works in both Classic and Elements. If you’re wanting to rebuild the site, I’d recommend going with Elements, it’s the future of RapidWeaver.
I can’t speak for how Sitelok works as I’ve never used it. Lots of people here have though so they could jump in on how it works. I don’t know if it handles subscriptions.
Sitelok is definitely compatible with Stripe. Sitelok has a dedicated plugin for Stripe. I have used it for the last four years and it works well. It is also free. The support from Sitelok is also first class. Plugins
