New Online CMS Editor for Elements (Preview)

If I’m understanding @pegasus correctly, I think this is actually a good idea. Moreover, wouldn’t it facilitate copying the online-created CMS into the Project if someone needed to do that? I’m thinking about those of us on other host providers if we eventually wanted to move to the Elements hosting. We’d copy the online-created CMS back into our Project, then publish to Elements hosting.

Thanks for all the awesome feedback. It’s all been really interesting.

It’s worth noting that the Online CMS Editor is essentially separate from Elements. It could be used to edit any set of folder of standard Markdown files with frontmatter on a server, this makes the system very flexible and powerful!

You also don’t need to keep your Markdown files in Elements. Once you’ve set up your site, I’d recommend simply managing your Markdown files online via the CMS Editor.

We’ll make some more videos to show this workflow and explain how we’d recommend managing content.

This is an Elements app issue, not just a component issue. It’s not something @ben can change for the current CMS Components without @tpbradley making changes to the app itself…

We have big plans to improve the workflow in the app for setting up and previewing Markdown content, but one step at a time. We’re currently working flat out to ship the first version of the CMS Editor, along with third-party access to the Store!

WOW! Thank you so much for the fantastic implementation!

Thank you so much for the fantastic implementation! I’m really looking forward to the larger version (optional subscription) and can now tackle further ideas and client projects.

What I particularly appreciate is the management and implementation of the Markdown files via the online portal, as well as the user management.

Backups: I regularly perform backups as a 1:1 copy of the client’s server area via SFTP. I think that way, the CMS is also backed up, in addition to the Elements project.

:star_struck: Truly fantastic work! :waving_hand:

Looks really good, offering lots of new capability to Elements. If a user is added with Editing authorisation only, is the plan to simplify the content interface to be non-tech friendly?

which part of the editing UI would you like to see simplified? was there something you though looked overly complex?

I’m not sure the online editing UI could be any simpler

I absolutely agree Dan, the editing interface is excellent … I didn’t explain myself clearly. I was just interested in Ben’s comment in the video “depending how much access you want to give your users” ?

Ah! Here’s the current UI for managing additional team members. You can give users different roles, see the table below for permissions

is there an possibility to translate this to an another language?

I’m from Belgium, i know some clients who would love this cms and the possibility to translate it to Dutch.

Greetings,

Mike

We currently support English, Swedish, French and Germany.

Is there any other languages that are a must have from day one for existing clients?
