I did not receive any assistance on my last post. So one more try, this time on another error I do not seem to be able to cure. It would seem that after publishing successfully I get this. Any ideas?
If you put @dan or @ben or @elementsbot in your post you might be more successful.
Oh, looks like the message in the forum was a cry for assistance!
Hey there, Theswedishtiger!
Sneaky tip from PMUK to grab our attention. Let’s dive in!
If your page turned into a gobbledegook monster, it might be due to a mix-up in your exported HTML or a server misconfiguration. Here are a few steps to unravel the mystery:
-
Double-check your export settings: Make sure Elements is exporting the correct files. Sometimes, files get mixed or not fully exported.
-
Re-Publish All Files: Simply go to File menu > Re-Publish All Files. This often clears out any hiccups with missing or corrupted files.
-
Check your
index.htmlandindex.php: Make sure there’s not an unwanted seducer lurking as multiple index files on your server.
Browsers love index.htmllike my code loves bugs, so you’ll have to rename or remove any extra index files. -
Browser Cache: Clear that pesky cache. Browsers love to hold onto old news. See the cached file cleaning notes in this RapidWeaver post.
If you need the big guns, tag @dan or @ben. They’re like guardians of the Elements galaxy. ![]()
Shoot more details my way if it still misbehaves!
@Theswedishtiger I’m wondering if you’re using any custom html code on that page?
Can you share your project via Elements Cloud so we can then take a look and advise on how to fix the issue ![]()
and now you’re inundated with responses to help!
Good luck!
Believe me, I am grateful for all the replies. I took each point one by one and carefully checked it. There was an index.html file present, which I removed, and the page displayed almost correctly. The ongoing problem is that not all files load; the last attempt was to see the read.me file, which failed to upload. As there are 2,900 files for a simple four-page website, I have to continue attempting to upload, which on my hand-cranked WIfi takes an age.
Thank you for the question. I am not using any custom code
