Password pages and custom HTML

I guess this is a part Elements and part general website thing. So I (with Claude help!) have created a pdf viewer with page controls and zoom in/out in a custom HTML component. It works great, happy to share if anyone is interested? It allows you to set the pdf file path in a properties box so the final website is limited to that file, but that is what I wanted.

Then I wanted to put it in a password protected section. This simply does not work, it messes up the page badly, ignores the password etc.

So then I made the password a page protection with a redirect. This works great. BUT is there any way to hide the page URL of the redirect? Because of course anyone with the password can access the file and then share the URL of the redirected page.

Hope all this makes sense?

Dave I did a free PDF viewer a while back however could not get the “toolbar” to work on iPad and phone as it needed an extra component, if you ahve cracked that then please I would be very happy to see it. My one was done with a button or picture trigger have a look here. https://forums.realmacsoftware.com/t/pdf-embed-free-project-beta-v2-elements/54092/3

Hi Paul, I will share this with you today.

Here is the link to the test project

elementsapp://downloadDocument/GhGtWBOtqbQ6

It works on mac, ipad and iphone.

It MUST be a https:// site.

Currently it displays a pdf (large pdf on purpose) on my elements-test.com site, you will obviosly need to set your own.

Let me know how you get on.

Sorry Am I missing a trick here? First of all when loaded I get a red bar with “Failed to load PDF: Load failed” and an open button, which when opens opens a PDF, this when scaled just loses part of right side of pdf, which was a problem I had with my initial set up until I rectified it.

So I am non the wiser as I have exactly the same as my open modal with a button PDF Viewer that shrinks the sides of PDF when opened on smaller device. Can you kindly attach few pictures to show tool bar on iPad and iPhone as I’m not seeing anything different to mine. TIA

go to https://elements-test.com and you will see what you should get when set up correctly.

Dave this is what I see on smaller screens. Cropped right side.

This is a screen shot on my iPad.

so I am not sure what is going on?

TIA

Did you open the pdf from the button “OPEN” at top?

No it opens immediately on page load

Ok perhaps crossed purposes I pressed the open button and got next page/ download zoom controls etc. and a narrowed page hence pics. On opening I get the small view as per pic. I wear glasses so like things big!:joy::joy::joy:

So working ok for you now?

No it’s exactly same as photo I uploaded!

I just took a look at your page and for me it opens and appears the same as your screen shot.

OK more confused, “my page” what are you referring to? If it’s my project for PDF yes the limitations are it opening and squashing screen and also theres no menu bar on iPad/iphone as apple doesnt have it. We discussed this at time. I thought you’d made me happy today but it appears same as mine in the squashy bit.

I am not sure how to assist further, sorry you have an issue, the attached screenshot is from my phone, it has page control, zoom control, ‘FIT’ option.

Excellent thats what In have however press the open tab next to fit and have a look at the image then.

Ok, but the thing is this. If you don’t press the Open button then you have the toolbar with page control next/prev etc to change page, zoom in/out and FIT. BUT there is no scroll through the pages. Press the open button and you no longer have the toolbar but you can manually scroll down the file.

I have just noticed though that on my iPhone the zoom +/- does not work :anxious_face_with_sweat:

Dave - the joys of experimenting!:rofl: The image was too small thats why I opened it. Didnt check anything else but will delve a little deeper tomorrow, as just in from swimming and having a bite to eat soon.

BTW when I press the open button it opens perfectly on all my devices, just wiypthout the toolbar but with scrolling. The zoom control works for me on Mac and iPad but not on iPhone, I will investigate this.
