Hi,
Seriously looking at migrating to the hosting, can I pay monthly or is it an annual charge only?
Hi,
Seriously looking at migrating to the hosting, can I pay monthly or is it an annual charge only?
Monthly is an option.
Yes, the charge is monthly, hereās the link to pick a plan and sign-up ![]()
Let us know if you have any further questions!
Thanks Dan,
Follow up question, if transferring domain from another registrar does that mean renewing the domain name will be billed alongside hosting thereby keeping things simple.
Or would I also use existing domain and just update nameservers?
Tia
Hi @DazFisher
You can do either actually. If you want to transfer the domain over to us, it will add another 1 year onto your existing renewal period, so you would get an extra year.
If you prefer to wait until closer to your domain is about to expire to do the transfer, then you can select the āExisting domain and just update nameserversā on the Elements Hosting store page. Then you can point your namesevers over to ours once the website migration has completed. ![]()
Whatever is easier for you, let me know if you have additional questions.
Perfect, thanks Dan.
Ok, just signed up to hosting.
First feedback on sign-up process, for me the form boxes did not accept suggestions from 1Password to autofill or even allow copy/paste function?
Familiarised myself with the account screens, clean and intuitive which I like.
When I click on go to control panel nothing happens, is this because something needs to be authorised your end prior to access?
My next step presumably would be to upload my elements site via ftp and then figure out name servers.
Daz.
Hi @DazFisher
Thanks so much for signing up!
Hrm thatās strange, I donāt use 1Password anymore since Apple Passwords came out, but Apple Passwords does auto-suggest on the sign-up pages. Perhaps someone else with 1Password can test to confirm if this is happening for them as well?
This is an issue with Safari unfortunately. When you click on the Log into Control Panel link in your Client Portal, it opens a new window to the Elements Hosting Reactor Panel. Safari sees this as a āpop-upā window and blocks it. In order to resolve the issue, you have to look in your Safari address bar (along the top of Safari), and towards the right you will see an icon that looks like two little credit cards overlapping each other. Click on that icon which will allow the āpop-upā window and the window to the Reactor Panel will open.
I will document this in the help docs as Safari seems aggressive on that. ![]()
Yep I will contact you here in a bit with all of that information. If you want to set up your SFTP user in Elements Publishing settings, we have a guide here on how to do that. ![]()
Thanks Dan.
Re: my SFTP password? not had one so do I reset to be able to see what it will be?
You can reset it as it hasnāt been generated yet. Iād recommend making a new entry in 1Password, something like āElements Hosting SFTP Userā and then generate and save the password in there manually. ![]()
1 primary website (unlimited addon domains, subdomains, and domain aliases)
With the āstarterā hosting, how many sites can you host? Are the add-on domains and subdomains just pointing to the primary site?
I have three small sites that Iām considering moving.
Dan,
Concerning your request for someone using 1Password to give feedback. I just registered on Elements Hosting and filled in personal and billing info without much fuss. I did have to make my home and billing addressesā zip codes match (the one for the credit card has the optional extra four digits added). My problemāeasy edit. Iām pleased with the Elements Hosting forms, pricing and clean design.
Good job!
Terry Manning
Well I have the Starter Hosting and I have five separate sites with only one of them as sub-domain. I also have a testing sub-domain, so I would say you are going to have no problems with your three sites.
Hi @ziplock
Thatās great to hear. Apple Passwords unfortunately doesnāt handle subdomains very well, so weāve had some challenges with that. Completely on Apple Passwords end though. I think 1Password can handle subdomains better.
Awesome, happy to hear you are pleased! We worked really hard on it. The best is yet to come! ![]()
Hi there, different Dan! Iāve really enjoyed reading the various posts about Elements Platform Ltd, and Iām quite interested as well. I currently have one main domain and two subdomains, with one of them using Google Workspace for email. Will this transition to your servers be smooth for me? If so, Iād love to get started with my order and take the necessary steps for the move!
HI @wbusch
Yep, the starter plan would work great for that. ![]()
If you have any questions about the order process let me know. Happy to help.
Hi Dan! I apologize for my delayed reply. I was planning a work trip to Israel, but the war put a stop to that. Iām still very interested in making the move, though! Which option do you think is better for me: transferring a domain from another registrar, or just updating the nameservers for my current domain? If I go for the transfer, how challenging is it to move the email for the non-Google Workspace site? Has the process gotten any easier? By the way, I donāt think I have much email on that account anyway. Thanks!
Either or, whichever is easier for you. If you want to transfer the domain, youād have to pay for another 1 year, but that will get added onto the domains expiration date, so basically itās like renewing the domain for 1 more year. If you just want to update the domainās nameservers to point to ours, you can do that to. It just depends if you want us to manage everything for you, or you prefer to manage the domain name stuff yourself. ![]()
We donāt offer email hosting, just website hosting, but itās not too difficult to migrate your emails to a third-party provider. We have a few we are recommending and can help you get that part up and running no problem. ![]()
If you have additional questions feel free to DM me here on the forum and I can answer any account specific questions you might have. Weād love to host you!
