Hi there - using Fitness template with Elements - and having trouble with the form on the contact page. Have triple checked all settings. PHP 8.4.2. New email account but seem to be able to use using Apple Mail successfully - its just the elements contact form that wont work. trying to upload screen grab with every setting minus password but I can’t seem to do that in this chat? Let me know if you have any advice… On this template there is a form within a form - I have made sure the settings are identical between both just in case.
Hi @1kredhead
The Port field should be 465 (you have it as 993).
Try changing that, republishing, and testing the form again.
Let us know how you get on.
Hi Dan - thanks for getting back. Apologies - I forgot to mention that I had tried 465, 993, and 587 for good measure and none worked. I have tried just now switching back to 465 - again didn’t work. Just in case it was a cache issue waited a bit - checked again. Checked on a different computer, still no good…the error I get is “oops something went wrong”.
Ah yeah, because your URL is https://1kdigital.ca/contact/contact.html
You should change the page filename to index.php, so the URL would be:
https://1kdigital.ca/contact/index.php
Keep the port as 465 because that’s the correct port number.
After changing the page filename to index.php, republish and let me know how it goes.
changed filename (enclosing screengrab of page info). Still not working with form - now in browser it reads : Contact 1K Digital
Yeah that URL is correct now, it’s just a different error now. Fixing one thing at a time it seems.
Can you upload your project file to Elements Cloud and send it over so I can check the settings? Make sure to remove the password before uploading.
okay have removed password and uploaded
Ok, I need the link. Can you post it here or send it to me via DM?
just DMd you
Thanks, got it.
So the new issue is you’ve got two Form components on the page. You should only have one. Change that first Form to a different component, like a Container component
Here’s an example of what it should look like, the form is contained in a Container component…
After you get that fixed republish your site and let us know how you get on. ![]()
“web contact” is a container
Yep now it’s a new error.
"success": false,
"error": "Failed to send email",
"timestamp": "2026-04-30T14:01:53+00:00"`
That usually means your SMTP details are not correct, probably your email address or password.
Does your email provider require an app-specific password to use for third-party stuff like Contact Forms? Who is hosting your email service?
host is fullhost.com . think I have all settings correct…
Check out our hosting https://elementshosting.io/, I could fix this faster if I could actually access your account. ![]()
I suspect the SMTP details are still wrong or your host is blocking something, I’d need some FTP user credentials to log into your website though at your hosting provider. Can you create a new FTP user for me, give that FTP user access to your https://1kdigital.ca website folder only, and then send those FTP login credentials to me via DM?
I can then check the log file and see what errors are being thrown in the log file…
may be beyond me but I will try…
We got this fixed over a Zoom call, the SMTP host needed to be changed to the correct one in the Form settings. That resolved the issue. ![]()
yes thanks Dan - really appreciate all your help!
