Problems With Remote Images

I have run into a problem where using remote images is not behaving correctly. Regardless of what I do if I change an image it updates in the image well and shows up correctly in the browser, but it is never updated in the editor.

I have been forced to switch to a local image in order to see what I’m doing in the editor with images.

Seems like updating a remote image should immediately update it in the editor.

Are there still unresolved issues with remote resources?

I need to know so I don’t go to all the trouble of setting them up, ony to have them not behave correctly.

I’ve not tested this myself yet, but just out of curiosty, does a restart or switching to another page (and back again) update the images in the editor?

Hi,

how would you actually use a remote image? In the Resource of an image there is only a “Choose” available.

I couldn’t replicate that here, I used a couple of different Unsplash URLs as my remote images, and they all loaded (and updated) correctly in Elements.

Could you share a project with this issue, or the URLs to the images not working?

You can add a remote resource by right-clicking on the Resources panel and choosing “Add Remote Resource”. You can then enter a URL to an image.

Once the remote resource is in your Resources you can use it as you would any other resources.

Note: this image is not managed by Elements, so you can’t do things like resize the image from within Elements.

Yes, I tried a number of restarts and it did not fix the problem. In the end the only way I could get the image to update was to use a local image.

There was no problem with the correct image being displayed in the browser. It was only the editor that was not updating the image display.

I’ll try to replicate it in a smaller project than the one I’m working in. Unfortunately, because I had replaced the resource based image with a local one, I cannot replicate it. But I will do some more testing as I’m sure I can locate more that had this problem.
