Problems with the pencil

I have a website www.ComingsBirds.com. It reports all the birding trip photos I and my wife have taken around the world. Each new trip has its own sub-website. It is a fairly old website and I am now having the following problem. For some of the sub-websites when I click on the pencil to add bird photos to a text page Rapid Weaver quits. This happens with many of the sub-websites. Why? How to fix it? Thanks, David Comings dcomings@earthlink.net

I’m sorry I can’t help you, but what an amazing collection of photos and organization of birds. Thirty pages is a work of love for birds, that is for certain. I hope you can fix your problem. I bookmarked your site so I can study all of those birds you have seen and photographed. Excellent!

Hi @comings,

A couple of questions first:

  1. Which version of RapidWeaver are you using?
  2. Which theme do you have selected in RapidWeaver currently? Is it still Cameo?
  3. By “pencil”, do you mean this little guy?

Cheers,
Erwin

I am using RW 9. Yes that is the pencil I meant. Yes using Cameo. Hope you can help. David

Thank you The Flickr site easily shows all the birds, but the sub-websites for eiach trip are more thorough. I would love to get them all working. For some the pencil works fine. For others is makes RW quite. Frustrating. David

Hi @comings,

Here’s something that might help:

First of all: make a backup of your project file, so you’re sure you have something to go back to if the below goes wrong for some reason.

Next, double-click on your project file, and immediately press and hold the Option key on your keyboard (between the Control and Command keys, left from the spacebar). You need to be quick though, as there’s only a moment in which RapidWeaver “notices” that you’re holding that key.

If you’re quick enough, the following window will appear:

Uncheck the first two options, but make sure the last option (“Reset Project Window”) is checked, then click Continue. Your RapidWeaver project will now load, but with the pencil selected as standard. Disregard any errors about things failing to load that you may see.

Select the pencil on all your pages without doing anything else, then save your project.

Now quit RapidWeaver, then double click on your project file. Again quickly press and hold the Option key, and make sure all options are checked this time in the little window that pops up.

If all goes to plan, the error should now be gone.

Cheers,
Erwin
