Product Selector Tool - Search site and generate product tables

I have a client that has asked me to add a product search and selector tool to the RW site I built and manage for them. What they want is a way for customers to search by different criteria (temperature, function, industry it is used in, etc.) and have the results displayed in a table with clickable links to the product’s detailed information page. When I built the site 2 years ago, they had me set up the products by family, by function, and by industry. If you visit www.systemsprotection.com and click on the PRODUCTS menu item, you can see what I mean. Is there a stack out there that can accomplish what they want without having to build a database of every product? I do have a search function on the home page using 1LD’s Live Search 2 and it does show results with links, but it isn’t able to produce the type of results on the fly that the client wants. Any suggestions? If it matters, the entire site is built in Foundry. Eventually I will redo the whole thing in Elements since Foundry is no longer being developed. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @AstraeaMarketing,

Although not easy (fair warning), this can be accomplished with Configure ($40, One Little Designer).

Visitors can sift through the catalog by attributes of the products, and end up with a product card that lists the exact product and calculated price for the options selected.

Appreciate the suggestion. I agree that looks a bit complicated. Plus, not sure it would work since the client’s products are not contained in a database to pull the content from. Whatever solution I use would have to pull the info from multiple pages to build a results page. Maybe this does that and I misunderstood how it works. Ideally, I’d like to find something that can just search the site and generate a table of results.

I looked a little closer at Configure and it does have merit. If only the attached type of search could yield multiple product thumbnails that when clicked on would take the user to that product’s page.

Had a crazy thought… I wonder if something like RapidCart Pro could be used to search the site and then display multiple products to choose from and then the user could click and visit the product’s detail page. I guess the big question is can RCP be used if there is no purchase option. My client only wants to help customers select the right product for their industry (Automotive, Railway, Aerospace, etc) or Function (Abrasion, Thermal, EMI, etc.). They don’t sell directly from the website. Could something like that work?

Hi @AstraeaMarketing

Regardless if it could, RapidCart Pro is no longer supported, so it’s not a durable option.

Perhaps VibraCart Pro could do it. You could set up a full webshop, and use CSS to hide the purchasing options and buttons.

Erwin

I wasn’t aware of that. I’ll look into the other option that you mentioned. I don’t write code but should be able to muddle through. Thanks!
