Publishing Classic to Hostgator

Hi, I am trying to publish directly to the /public_html directory in my Hostgator site.

The site address is https://www.myname.com and my FTP id is myftp

When I publish leaving the Path blank the files are loaded in /home/adminid/serverid/myftp/ not to /public_html

Clearly I am missing something in defining this correctly. Help appreciated, especially from people hosting on Hostgator.

At the moment once I publish I manually copy the uploaded site to the /public_html directory.

I would like to avoid this double handling if at all possible.

Thanks in advance

That url is pointing to a parking service.(DNS Propagation Checker - Global DNS Testing Tool)

If you want to point it to your hostgator account, you’ll need to change you NS servers on your domain registrar.

If you set yor path to blank, it’s only going to go where your FTP acct directs it. Next time use the Browse button and find your public_html/ folder and choose that

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your response. Just so you’re aware I did use the BROWSE button.

Also the NS servers are pointing to Hostgator. The site name I put in the message is ficticous. When I use the propagation checking tool you gave me with the correct URL it propogates correctly. Sorry for the confusion.

The situation hasn’t changed though. It doesn’t matter what I put into the BROWSE I don’t get to the home1/public_html it just allows me no higher in the tree than home1/myownurl/myftpname

Other things I am not considering??

Thanks and Regards, Tim

It’s difficult for me to explore further if I can’t see the issue. Maybe talk to Hostgator?
