It shouldn’t have to as in the publishing section specifies: Override Website Address.
I publish my site to three separate URLS: local testing using Servbay, a staging site and production site on my host. All three URLs are different. I override the website address for each publishing destination.
This did not fix the issue. It did let the publisher go through the motions of publishing, (blue bars just working away) But nothing shows up in the folder on the server.
It does publish to a local folder now!
the display goes by so fast but I there is a flash of some error at the top bar. caught a glimpse
Well, I am still having issues publishing a CMS project to my server. I decided to try the Appleseed project and changed all the setting to match my server. It went through the motions of publishing but had the same error eventually.
Many files were apparently missing. I then published it to a local folder, and used CyberDuck to load all the files onto the server. It took a long time (25min) but it was successful and the site was visible in the browser.
The web host (littleOak) said there was plenty of space on the server and should not have any issue with uploading.
I’ve tried to publish just one page from Elements but I get constant error messages while trying to publish.
Is publishing working now or are you still having issues with it?
I noticed in your screenshot you are trying to upload over FTPS. Does Little Oak hosting offer SFTP instead? SFTP is usually more stable than FTPS. If they offer SFTP try changing over to it and giving it a try.
Well I finally got it so it would publish the project to my server. I had to read numerous issue reports and finally got the magic combination. I had tried this before but something just wasn’t right. I think the issue was an rw file outside subfolder from a previous upload attempt with Cyberduck. after deleting a bunch of folders it worked.
but it still doesn’t necessarily update the home page even after reloading or new window. This may be an issue with LittleOak server not updating fast enough. If I wait and reload eventually it updates to the newest edition.
I also have issues with the actual project loading “Read Me First” file as one of the milestone items. But the Accordions seem to work !!!
Ah yeah Elements will not delete files off of your server, so if your home page was originally .html, and then you changed it to .php, you’d have to go and delete the .html version off of your web hosting account.
You can actually see the index.html page in the screenshot you posted of your Cyberduck app. You should delete that index.html page from Cyberduck.
So I discovered that the “Read me first.md” file was a leftover from a previous publishing in the same folder. I just deleted it with Cyberduck so it should be gone now .
