Question: Will you be upgrading to RW 7?

Loving RW7

All the major and minor improvements are worth the update :+1:

You can place my straw in the ‘Yes’ pile*.

(*I’m pretty sure that’s not how straw polls work.)

Yes, if I have any money.

Heck yes, each of these features on their own would have enticed me into upgrading but combined, it’s a no-brainer!

If it will still run on Mavericks - Then Yes

RapidWeaver 7 will not support OS X Mavericks, I’m afraid. OS X Yosemite or newer will be required for RapidWeaver 7, as the new lightning-quick preview mode is based on technologies only available on OS X Yosemite onwards (OS X El Capitan included, of course).

I Will upgrade, and like to betatest it too.

Yes, eventually. So far, for me, each new RW iteration rocks once the major kinks had been ironed out. I’m usually a late adopter though, hence the “eventually”.

Definitely! I will upgrade the moment it is released!

Of course! I’ll apply some caution in the beginning but even RW 6 was sound for me (with minor hiccups).
Count me in!

No. Reason: I work in RW5, which is wonderful and stable! It takes too much of my time to upgrade … there’s already a lot to learn (and time spent) with each new theme and each new stack, and I want to spend my time doing websites, rather than dealing with more learning curve and more money spent. But, thank you! You guys are great!

Just Recently Purchased… RapidWeaver 6 + Stacks 3 + Foundation + TotalCMS + RW/Writer as well as a few other things all with the intent to go with RapidWeaver 7. Have been following the progress on the podcasts, sounds like it will be a nice upgrade to an already great platform.

Kind Regards,
Dave

Just to let you and others know, Foundation and Total CMS are working brilliantly in RapidWeaver 7. Been using it in beta for a while without too many issues.

Will be upgrading for sure!

Portable documents, backup feature and moveable addons folder alone are worth it. With some other features that I know are there too, it will be a no brainier.

@sharijos: every upgrade will have bugs but with every upgrade you get better tools and better code to make even better websites.
RW5 is looong gone for me.

@zeebe you may want to look at a support ticket I sent in about Foundation images.

From what I can gather from the Podcasts, they are wanting this iteration to be as bug free as possible and are working very hard to make it so.

The caveat here though would be that RMS does not have control over the state of your Mac, the Software that is installed (anti-virus, packet monitors, disk cleaning utilities, firewalls, hosts that have their system configured out of the norm or tested states as examples that can cause issues that are not the fault of RMS).

The good thing… there will be a trial version for download to see if it works for you prior to purchase and then monitor the forums for feedback I guess :slightly_smiling:

@sharijos

I think once this version is released, developers will slowly not support RW version prior to 6… I could be wrong, but have seen so in the past as they develop and support and fix multiple products sold for very little money on the hopes of grand sales, developing 2-3 year old software is not efficient (just my opinion and food for thought) But, like you said, it is stable and functional for you so that is AWESOME.

Brad

I might try it out and see how it works – if it will sit well in the same computer with RW5 and RW6. But I’ll have to upgrade from Mavericks first.

Oh, I understand RMS does not have control over all the stuff we have and use in our computers or how we use them or how much unimaginable stuff we sometimes throw at RW. I just want to be careful I don’t wreck the tools I use for my clients’ websites. To me, it’s like defensive driving – trying to see ten cars ahead to avoid disaster. At the same time, I have to be aware of what’s behind – unsupported OS and software could bite me back. :slightly_smiling:
