Can someone explain to me the difference in the publishing modes for Rapidweaver 7.3.2. The 3 modes are extended passive ( default ), passive and active.
Which one should I be using, which one is faster, which one works the best?

It depends on the speed of your Internet connection and the current congestion of traffic). Usually, the extended passive works in the most reliable way. You set the speed by choosing between 1 to 6 connections. Sometimes too many connections cause problems, but try the maximum first and see if that works for you.
