RapidWeaver Classic 9.4 is now available

Hello Weavers,

Start your update engines, RapidWeaver Classic 9.4.0 is now available to download :tada:

We’ve been collaborating closely with @barchard at Chillidog Hosting to enhance publishing integration in RapidWeaver Classic. Thanks to this work, setting up publishing destinations is now more seamless than ever. Best of all, this new protocol is open, ensuring greater flexibility and compatibility.

Additionally, we’ve upgraded the built-in PHP server, allowing you to choose between PHP 7.4.21 and the latest PHP 8.4.4, ensuring better performance, security, and support for modern web applications.

What’s new in 9.4?

Introduced Magic Publishing Links for seamless and secure authentication, streamlining the publishing workflow.
Upgraded PHP support to version 8.4.4, ensuring improved performance, security, and compatibility with the latest web technologies.
Implemented various optimizations and under-the-hood enhancements to maintain stability, reliability, and peak performance.

What are Magic Publishing Links?

Magic publishing links provide a quick way to automatically configure a publishing destination within a RapidWeaver Project. Most of the settings can be configured, reducing user error and making setup a simple one click solution.

Magic links are now available in your Chillidog Hosting Panel.

To create a magic link, use the rapidweaver:// url scheme with createPublishingDestination followed by query parameters for the settings.

Magic link format

rapidweaver://createPublishingDestination?[options]

Example link

rapidweaver://createPublishingDestination?name=Chillidog%20Hosting&method=SFTP&server=123.123.123.123:8080&path=/my/cool/site&username=my-user-name&website=https://www.magic.com

Thanks @dan !

For RapidWeaver and Elements users, you can now add your publishing details directly to the respective apps. This saves you time and reduces any of that guess work (“what are my publishing details?” or “what is my publishing path”) so you can focus on what truly matters, building your site!

This option appears directly in the Billing area of your account and includes your main domain and any add-on or sub-domains you have!

Let us know if you have any questions

Cheers
Greg

“comprtition” vs competition in your link btw.

I tried to download 9.4 and it wouldn’t open. I’m currently running 9.3.4.

@carogalady, Can you tell me what version of macOS you’re using? You could try downloading again using the link at the top of this post.

Thank you for not abandoning everyone as many past addon developers have.

@schesbh This sounds like it could be a caching issue to me. If RapidWeaver shows 9.4.0 (21124) in the launch window, you’re good to go.

I have had similar messages in the past that cleared themselves up after I went back to edit mode onto other pages. Not sure if this is some issue with an add on stack or what.

This is the message. Any ideas (using Sequoia 15.3.2 and the just updated Classic 9.4.

Thanks,

Pete S

What version of Elements does this work with as I have tried testing these but could not get them to work in Elements?

@Pete can you restart RapidWeaver Classic, create a new project and attempt to preview. Does the error still occur?

The magic publishing links will work in the next build of Elements. We hope to make this available within the next week so please give it a go then.

No message when opening new project (Mountain), so, I assume I may be using an add on that is misbehaving? Most of my addons are Source, but I have some others that may no longer be supported.

Ok, keep an eye on it and let us know if you see this again. Cheers!

I’m running 9.2. Should I download this? Is it safe? Is this a paid update? Thanks in advance.

Hi @Albertkinng,

If your license is still eligible for updates, RapidWeaver Classic will prompt you to update to the latest version when you launch it.

If you’re not eligible, and your year of updates has run out, you’ll see this yellow badge on the top edge of the window.

You can check the Registration Window for more information and to renew your license if necessary.

If you need more help with this, please email support@realmacsoftware.com, and we can go into more detail about your options. You can also check out in-depth Licensing Section in the Classic Manual.

I purchased years ago but cannot locate my licence key. Can you help?

Oh, I assumed it was a regular update. I’m accustomed to paying for major upgrades, like moving from version 9 to version 10, rather than from 9.2 to 9.3. Thanks for clarifying—I’ll look into it and take care of what’s needed. Appreciate the explanation!

RapidWeaver Classic was launched back in June 2022, so it’s been nearly three years of updates and improvements. While we’d love to keep updates free forever, ongoing development takes time and resources. We truly appreciate your support—it helps us keep making RapidWeaver even better!

Most importantly, if you’re happy with the version of Classic you’re running, you can stick with it—there’s no urgency to renew or upgrade.
