Classic 9.5 brings some major under-the-hood upgrades to publishing, it’s now a faster, safer, and more future-proof publishing engine.
What’s new in Classic 9.5?
We’ve completely modernised the engine behind publishing in this release, including upgrading all core libraries for speed, security, and compatibility. Best of all, you should notice publishing feels even snappier!
cURL: Jumped from 7.79.1 → 8.13.0: Brings faster transfers, improved HTTP/2 and FTP handling, and support for the latest protocols.
OpenSSL: Upgraded from 1.1.1 → 3.5.0: Building on TLS 1.3 with improved performance, stronger cryptographic controls, and long-term support.
libssh2: From 1.10.0 → 1.11.1: Enhances SFTP stability, key exchange robustness, and compatibility with modern servers.
Ongoing Support for Classic and a Look Toward the Future
We know many of you have built your workflow around RapidWeaver Classic, and we want to reassure you: Classic isn’t going anywhere. We’re continuing to maintain and update it with important improvements, fixes, and optimizations to keep things running smoothly.
That said, as we pour more energy into building RapidWeaver Elements, we believe now’s a great time to start exploring what’s next.
Elements is the future of RapidWeaver; it’s a brand-new, modern website builder designed from the ground up. It’s faster, more flexible, and gives you complete control with a fully visual editing experience. You can buy your copy at elementsapp.io
We’ll continue to support both Classic and Elements, so you can move at your own pace.
I truly value the continued support for RWC. We’ve invested significant resources into that application, and it would be a disservice to abandon it for a new one. While Elements represents the future, for many of us, that means starting from scratch. Keeping RWC operational is a tremendous advantage.
Yes - I think rapidweaver classic is for me going forward… to much ease of use and years of knowledge and usage - trying to remember when I switched… was on pagemill in the 90’s then golive- then dreamweaver (hated it so much) switched to rapidweaver…
Hi Dan, 9.5 does not work for me on Mojave. Here is the error message I get the following. Would you please help me?
Also, when I start 9.4.3, it never tells me that there is an update when I check for updates.
I own 2 copies of RE Classic and I need them to work flawlessly on Mojave
Thx for the help Dan
I just renewed from v9.2.1 to v9.5.0. Prior to renewal I published a large member site/RW project with 2,523 files to my local hosting account. The time to publish was 3 minutes 10 seconds. A few minutes later I upgraded to v9.5.0 and the time to publish the exact same site/RW project was 3 minutes 12 seconds. I am on a M1 Mac Studio and used exactly the same wifi and all other programs and browsers were closed . I am not experiencing the ‘faster’ publishing engine, as claimed. It’s actually slower for me. What I did experience was no failed publishing tries. Am I missing something on the faster publishing front?
