Rapidweaver Classic - My Perspective

Rapidweaver Classic - My Perspective

Today - still buying Joe Weavers HTML 5 audio and video stacks - amongst others…

My perspective - I make my own websites and others for non profits.

Look at my sites here at MichaelDroste.com

I’m a part time creator, don’t do it for a living and just tinker with many stacks to update my sites. I’m a retired school teacher and enjoy making good looking sites with tasteful animations.

I had signed up for elements beta, and watched many of the early videos - I was very impressed.
But decided that the development changes and constant updates would hamper my progress.

For me, I’m not sure if I’d upgrade to elements unless there was some amazing next generation templates and importing of classic files and settings.

At first, I thought I was being left behind but then bought some nice 1LD animation stacks and many of their other stacks.

With aspen, I’m happy with my current websites…

I personally have stopped programming web stores - Products not selling. Tried a coffee store and a kitchen / household goods store…

I’m a musician - and now direct people to Apple, Spotify and YouTube. Amazon for my music trumpet books. There is no money in music. Fractions of a penny for streaming - if people can even find your music. 200,000 new songs are released every day.

At this point I’m very satisfied with rapid weaver classic and see it in my future.

I just wanted to share my perspective with the creators and the community.

I miss the podcast - they had a really good feel and was fun to listen to - I was - Mike, the coffee guy - from Chicago

Best wishes to all

Merry Christmas :gift:

Hi @MichaelDroste,

Thanks for sharing your perspective on RapidWeaver Classic, it’s lovely to hear that it still continues to work well for you.

Regarding RapidWeaver Elements, it’s understandable to be cautious about adopting this new app, especially when Classic meets your needs. I’d recommend keeping a close eye on Elements over the next year, as I really think you’ll enjoy the seamless way it works, and the true WYSIWYG editor.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and good luck with your music in 2025🎄

Thank you your very kind - I wish you continued success as always!!! You’re a great company, with great support!

Keep up the great work!

I look forward to seeing elements when finished - it really does look very cool…

I’m looking for polished animations and good clean inspiring templates.

I really like 1LD animations!!!

Best Wishes to you!

Merry Christmas :christmas_tree:

Continuing the discussion from Rapidweaver Classic - My Perspective:

I would like to add my own perspective on Rapid Weaver Classic versus Elements.

I am also an amateur and just do my own travel and photo website which is nothing that fancy but will steadily be growing for many years if all goes well. Rapid Weaver Classic with many stacks has worked very well for me. I am even looking at switching to Foundation as the base after the unfortunate but understandable developement stopping of Foundry.

My biggest concern about Elements at this point is that it will be lacking many of the features that I require that stacks currently offer (and some new ones coming on line). It is great that the Elements interface is so modernized. But I really don’t see how one company can supply all the features that are already supported in today’s stacks.

So as one person, is the ease of use enough to change to Elements? Without the features I need, I am sorry to say that it probably won’t be.

Could you please clarify how third parties might be able to provide such features? I have heard that such capabilies are very limited with how Elements is currently structured.

As Michael said, I also do wish you guys all the success going forward as I have appreciated what you have made possible already.

I am curious. What, in particular, do you wish to see in Elements??

Elements has a powerful API, that is more capable than what’s available in Classic/Stacks. Users and Developers have already started building components for Elements, I think you’ll start to see plenty of addons for Elements next year.

Thanks so much, your support is appreciated!

I’m sure you’ll do a great job. It will be great to see new plugins added to elements…

Thanks Dan.

I am in the middle of a big update on my website using Classic with an updated plugin. But once I get through that I will take a closer look at the API and the associated information.

From my side I can say that Classic will be supported by developers as long as RMS keeps it updated. RapidWeaver Classic is here to stay

So you have time to see if Classic+Stacks ecosystem can be replaced by Elements (but it depends on your needs). Development continues, just wait :grinning:
