Recreating My RW website

I used RW to create a website a few years ago and I haven’t used RW since, and now I need to update it. I know I can still use RW Classic, but I want to see if I can recreate it in Elements. I am also trying Blocs.

I am not finding Elements intuitive at all, while Blocs seems much more intuitive. I’ve watched many of Dan’s videos but still I’m scratching my head. For practice I am trying to recreate a section of my RW Projects Home Page:

The components available in Elements seems sparse. I understand the Container is supposed to be a powerful component, but I am stumped as to how to create a list, or a section with a Header, Photo, and text. Whats the difference between Text and Typography? In RW if I needed a Header, I inserted it, same with a list or other stacks. Obviously I’m no web developer, but I can figure out Blocs and I would like to understand Elements better too.

Can someone recreate the section from my project (or something similar) so that I can see the steps needed to do it on my own?

Much appreciated!

I tell you what I found most useful. Under Market Place on the left of your screen are a couple of Elements projects, North Eleven and Fitness. You can open them in Elements and see how the various parts were put together and how things actually work.

Without those examples I might have jumped off the learning curve and gone back to Classic.

Consider watching their YouTube video channel, too to learn by example.

Hi @Sundogg (@jbyfield and @numericcitizen),

Good news! I have put together a short(ish) video that shows how to rebuild the three column block of your website and I have included the project below.

I hope you find this helpful, and if you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to ask

Happy Weaving!

I know I’m biased, but one thing that struck me while re-building your page was the difference in the Elements editor compared to the old way of building your site in Stacks. The contrast is quite stark…

how do you get the middle section wider than the rest like the original page?

You’d add more columns to the grid, then set each column to take up different amounts. You could do something like this…

Thank you Dan!

I am very appreciative of the video you put together for me, it was very educational and informative. I got a good chuckle out of your honesty about a couple of things I did that you didn’t care for, I will correct those.

Now I will see if I can recreate that section as you demonstrated.

Again, thank you for quick and thoughtful response.
