In the Image Resource Info … there is no option for “ALT”
Elements simply takes your Caption and makes that your Alt tag
This is beginning to be a problem for me as … for example I want a …
succinct caption that says “Chevet de Notre Dame, 1980” …
… but I want to give Google a good descriptive Alt tag that reads “Chevet de Notre Dame, 1980, an oil painting by artist Peter Yates (1920-1982)”
As you can see, my captions get too long, visually ugly and repeat text (as the author is included below)
In summary - I’m suggesting that there’s an argument for an ALT tag that’s distinct from the Image Caption
(you might also get less people like me asking … “where does the ALT tag go ?”)
