been with RW for 2 decades. latched onto Foundry because Adam Shiver epitomized creativity and customer service, but that went up on smoke end of last year. Have not bought into Elements, and seems like dwindling 3rd party support overall. in 2018 there was discussion about Blocs. any more recent comparison? or reason to stay here? built 2 large sites with Foundry last fall and finally getting around to completing them, but likely don’t fit with Elements. So do i stay with RW or move on and redo my 2 sites with a new partner.
Hi @soccerdoc,
Totally fair questions — and you’re definitely not alone in wondering where things stand!
I’d actually say it’s the opposite — at this point in Elements’ development, we have more developers creating addons than we expected. Projects are already available, and we know of many others actively building components and tools right now.
That said, these addons really need a central place where users can easily browse, try, and buy them. That’s why our online marketplace is a key priority, and we’re working hard to get it launched as soon as possible.
Totally understand — that’s not an easy decision, especially given the Foundry situation. It’s not ideal, and we know how disruptive it can be.
What I can say is that we’re 100% focused on building the best web builder for Mac, period. We’re shipping updates every week (you can follow progress on our YouTube channel), and we’re listening closely to user feedback — so the app keeps evolving with the community.
Users who’ve made the switch to Elements are loving it. The feedback has been incredible. Here are just a few examples:
I finally have time to take a closer look at Elements and I’m really surprised at what you’ve managed to do here. I have many projects that I have made with Foundry and have looked into the development of Stacks Pro from time to time to continue my projects. But seeing this now I have to say, Foundry should stay on RW Classic as long as possible and I’ll probably jump on the Elements bandwagon. By the way, very enjoyable to follow you in the well-made videos, Ben!

There’ll sure be some 3rd party additions to elements, but even in it’s current state it can do more than I was able to do with RW classic + Foundry + easyCMS + lots of 3rd party stacks or even Blocs. Yes, there’ll be a learning curve, but it’s worth it.
I could’ve stayed with classic, but being forced into the terrible UI/UX from Stacks to create a website… no way. And even more so if you switch back from elements (or blocs, where I now come from) to RW classic and stacks. I can’t imagine that for the life of it.

I picked Elements up this morning and all I can say is WOW…just WOW. The software is one of the most intuitive programs I have ever used. I was a professional web developer back in the late 90s and early 00s and have used more web design tools than I can count and this is so well thought out.
