RW 'Something went wrong ... ' error

For the record -

Here is a grab showing that when I get the 'Something … ’ error all of the images become left-aligned.

I am getting it when I publish all.

The Publish function in RW is very flakey and it has been reported here and elsewhere many many times. In this case, flakey means that it may work, but for some, it fails to publish, doesn’t publish all files, is slow, takes many attempts and at worst will crash your Mac. I have reported this so many times that I couldn’t count those times. The Realmac response was always that the new version would fix it. I gave up using the RW Publish function a few months ago and my Mac has never crashed since. I was getting several Mac crashes every day up to that point.

I believe that this is a much bigger problem than Realmac realise because:

  1. RW don’t get the crash reports because the Crash reporter also crashes and the report doesn’t get sent.
  2. Many RW users have abandoned the RW Publish system and use Export with an FTP program, and therefore, avoid the crashing, and experience a much faster reliable work flow system anyway.

I really hope RW gets sorted out but every new version seems to bring the same pattern of problems, sountil then my advise is not to upgrade RW and don’t use Publish.

Hi I had this happen a few times,then realised what I was doing wrong,

If you try to drag something to the right in RW6 just a little out of the Image area it will give you this error message.

Resolved this issue by making sure when working with RW6 it was in full screen mode

@conger

I have just begun to notice that RW’s Publish does have issues. In my case, I get several Fail to Publish notices when I try to publish my project. And, at this point, I only have a bare-bones project - three pages in all. I simply continue to Publish until the task is completed. This process has not ever caused the app to quit or lock up my Mac.

I purchased Transmit several years ago because RW’s FTP was problematic back then as well. I use Tranmit for my non-RW websites and it works flawlessly. Transmit is extremely flexible in that it gives me the ability to make any changes I wish to my /public_html folder.

We should all probably have a FTP Plan B.

@Chriss

Interesting. Could you be a bit more specific in what you mean my ‘drag something’?

Thanks!

me too! Same issue here!

Lot of publishing errors, saving problems and it look that not all changes in the project are exported. Sometimes the only way to see your changes is remove the whole site with ftp and then republish.

@thereaimf

By ‘same issue here’ are you referring to the ‘Something …’ error or to a FTP problem?

Thanks.

I was referring to the “Something…” error in conjunction with Fail to Publish.
