Richard if you want a quicker response try putting @elementsbot or @dan in your request and put the word Help in title and usually I find you get a quicker response. Sometimes people in forum read the heading and then just skip it if its not of interest but I’ve found putting th “help” in peaks peoples interest to help.
To add ALT TEXT to images in a gallery for SEO purposes, you should use the Image Component settings. Set the “Description” in the Image Component, which acts as the ALT TEXT for search engines and accessibility tools.
For TITLE attributes, Elements doesn’t directly support this, but you can use a Custom Component to add custom HTML if needed.
Remember, I’m just a bot and might hallucinate, so double-check in the Elements documentation or forum for the latest info. If you need more help, you can tag @dan or @tpbradley for their expert advice.
To be clear, I’m asking whether or not alt text can be added to individual images in a gallery.
My existing RW site has this feature and it’s working. I rank 1st on page 1 of Google.
If Elements doesn’t allow me to add alt text to my gallery images, I don’t think I can risk using it. Please tell me this basic SEO feature isn’t missing!
Where you add the Alt tag is not immediately obvious - I think this is an oversight - also an oversight is that there is no reference to to the Alt tag there
Also, I agree with jbob that the ‘caption’ should read ‘alt tag’. To me it would make sense to change ‘description’ for regular images on pages to ‘alt tag’ too. Or, at least, use one consistent term in all instances.
Never trust AI on answers about anything. AI can often be wrong, and sometimes it just makes stuff up. It’s always best to do your own research after asking AI an important question.
The Caption field is displayed as a caption below images in the gallery. It just also happens to be useful as an ALT tag in code. So in this case I think Caption still makes sense.
