Dear Elements Experts,
Elements 1.5.7 (23959)
How do I add a simple Mailto for a clickable email icon? I know the html looks like < a href=“mailto:mail@domain.com” < /a > but not sure where to place this?
Thank you,
Barry

Click on the image/svg component, click on link in the properties window, click on url, edit to mailto:InsertEmailHere
Thank you! That worked.
Just a heads up @Savana, adding a plain mailto tag on your website will probably result in your email account getting tons of Spam and so forth. Bots will scan that mailto tag on your webpage and add your email address to all kinds of Spam lists.
Better to use a Contact Form with spam protection (we have that built into Elements), or use some kind of obfuscation technology to try and obfuscate your email address if you must post it on your webpages.
Hi Daniel,
You’ve mentioned using obfuscation technology for an email link, do you know what options are available for Elements?
(My current RW site includes a paid for obfuscation add-on that’s been very successful.)
As a user, I much prefer direct links and I’d hate to think I’d loose clients if I only offer a form.
Thanks, Richard
Hi @Rich2020
For an email link? None that I know of. Elements has a ton of awesome Spam Protection options if you are using the Contact Form as shown below:
But if you are just trying to stick an Email link on your site, there’s nothing we have at the moment to obfuscate that.
I usually just obfuscate the email address with this website The Email Address Obfuscator Page and then stick that code it spits out on the site, however that obfuscation method is ancient, and most current bots can easily get around it. I just do it out of habit.
@Doobox had a nice obfuscation stack, perhaps when the Elements store is opened up to 3rd party devs those could be ported over to Elements.
In the meantime perhaps ChatGPT or Google Gemini could whip something up for you really quick.
Thanks.
Out of interest, is there a date set for opening the store for 3rd party devs?
