There was a developer diary out recently that introduced image sliders. Its great to have that feature but getting it also it reminded me of a stack from Elixar Graphics that allowed you to put most any stack into a slider. Not just an image. The stack was called Orbit.
Orbit was one of the few stacks I couldn’t quite get working 100%. Below is an example of a page where I tried to get it working. Looks pretty good to me on a laptop screen but if you bring it to a large desktop the different slides would leave big gaps between each slide.
It was likely that I just didn’t figure out how to use this tool when it was being developed and am doing something wrong. I hope something like it will come to elements because I’d sure like to give it another try! The idea is really cool way of horizontally moving through a page clicking the next buttons. It even let you choose how much of the before and after slides you wanted to see.
We have a carousel component planned that would allow you to place anything in each "slide“. I’m also sure there will be other third-party options available to do this.
Awesome, it was a really interesting idea I would have liked to play around with more. I feel like I didn’t really tap into its power and experience everything that it could have done. I would have liked to talk to others who have used it so that I could understand how to do it better.
@KipV - I also tried to get Orbit working and although it looked good could never quite get it to do what I wanted. I ended up using the Cycler stack from Weaverspace which is pretty easy to use (although I am sure that the scroll left and right works the wrong way round!). I would also love to see something similar to this in Elements
It is good to know there are other options that could work. If it doesn’t take long I may try to put it together with Weaverspace’s stack. A complete rewrite of this site in Elements isn’t all that feasible since I’ve since placed my effort into other works at this time but maybe Cycler stack could work.
That is cool you got something going around this basic idea going! I think my initial idea was that each slide would almost works like its own mini-page with a full background image that stretches out to the end of each slide. I would love to see where you continue to go with this project!
