Some buttons always redirect to homepage instead of selected page

I’m having a strange issue with links in Elements.

Some buttons work correctly, but certain buttons always redirect to the homepage instead of the page I select.

Things I have tried:
• Editing the existing link inside the Global
• Creating a completely new button with a new link
• Adding a completely new container that is not a Global and then creating a new button inside it
• Selecting the correct page again in the link dialog

Even when I build a new container and a new button from scratch (outside the Global), the link still redirects to the homepage.

Since other buttons on the same page work correctly, it seems to only affect certain buttons.

Has anyone experienced this?
Is this a known bug or am I missing something?

TIA

Henrik

Just to add some context — this is a project I recently migrated from RapidWeaver Classic with Foundry 3 to Elements. The site is fairly large, around 129 pages, so it’s not a small test project.

I’ve been working with RapidWeaver since around 2012, so about 14 years now, and I’m quite familiar with how things normally behave. That’s also why this stood out to me. When certain buttons start sending visitors to the homepage instead of the page they are linked to, it becomes a bit worrying on a site of this size.

Said with a bit of humour and a small smile — but also quite seriously — broken links in a 129-page project are not really something you want to discover after launch.

So I’m trying to understand what could be causing this behaviour.

Thanks again for taking a look.

@dan

Sorry to hear you’re having issues!

Could you share the project via Elements Cloud so we can take a look? Let me know exactly where to look, and what button is miss-behaving. Hopefully we can figure it out for you

Just sent you an email with the link:)
