🍊 Squash 4 Beta 5 Now Available

Hey Squashers,

After some excellent feedback on the last beta, we’re back with a juicy new version of Squash. This new build includes a new Highlighter tool, it features auto detection and manually drawing of highlights/redactions. We’ve also added in a much requested Watch Folder feature (check the App Preferences for that one).

Squash is still being polished and improved, so you can expect a couple more builds before we declare Squash 4.0 final.

Please take it for a spin, and let us know if you hit any issue or are still missing any must have features!

What’s New in 4.0 Beta 5?

  • New Highlighter: Redact or highlight text, names, email addresses, codes, and QR codes and barcodes automatically, or draw your own marks with an adjustable width and colour swatches
  • New Watched Folders: drop images into a folder in Finder and Squash processes them in the background with the preset you choose (Work in-progress, use with caution).
  • AI features now use Apple Intelligence only, so your images never leave your Mac
  • Turn any section off and back on without losing its settings, using the switch in its header, by right-clicking, or by hovering and pressing D. ⌥-click to keep just that section on
  • Restyled Crop, with a rule-of-thirds grid and handles on every side
  • New split view handle, with Before and After labels in the corners of the image
  • Watermark inset can now be set in pixels or as a percentage
  • Sections have a new default order
  • Fixed previews sometimes showing the previous change to effects, watermark text or Rename

Cheers!

P.S. Did you know that Squash has been in-development and supported for over 10 years, not bad for a humble little compression app!
