Stack for Sticky Nav in Aspen

Stack to create sticky Nav works with Aspen Theme RWC

Looking for a Stack to create sticky Nav - that works with Aspen Theme RWC

Thanx

Mike

Hi @MichaelDroste,

Most options will work fine, as long as those options aren’t part of a framework that needs its own theme.

I just tested it with Sticky (stacks4stacks.com, discontinued) and SuperMenu (stacks4stacks.com, discontinued) after switching off the theme’s built in nav, and it works.

Cheers,
Erwin

Maybe another option could be ‘Clean Menu’ by 1LD:

Clean menu doesn’t seem to let me control the size, the font, or the color

I looked at their sticky nav 2 - but not sure it works with my large 100 + page site TrumpetStudio.com

Got about 20 + articles and 40 + free resources etc…

I just want a simple fresh look… easy to navigate and find information

Even added a duck duck go search engine to search the site…

Thought a sticky menu would be nice… but aspen keeps winning…

What do you think? Here is Clean Menu

The only thing I don’t like is the top empty space Turned off Everything in Aspen…

Can’t seem to shrink the title area

Chat GPT SAYS:

#pageBanner, #banner {
height: 60px !important;
background: none !important;
padding: 0 !important;
margin: 0 !important;
}

#slogan, .siteSlogan {
display: none !important;
}
#banner {
height: 80px !important;
padding: 0 !important;
margin: 0 !important;
overflow: hidden;
background-size: cover;
}
#slogan {
display: none !important;
}
#navcontainer {
margin-top: -20px !important;
}
.aspenBanner {
height: 60px !important;
padding: 0 !important;
overflow: hidden;
}

Then says try Use a Stacks-based Blank Theme Instead

You can dodge all of Aspen’s copy-protection headaches by switching to a freeform blank canvas theme like:

  • Foundation 6 (by Joe Workman)
  • Source (by Shaking the Habitual)
  • Blankstrap (free Bootstrap-based starter)

Hi @MichaelDroste ,

ChatGPT’s suggestion to switch to an empty theme is a bit weird - in a vacuum it makes sense, if you’re in the process of designing a site. but switching an existing site to a blank theme will make all the markup go away, and you’ll need to redo most of the layout. Also, those blank themes are designed to work with Stacks pagetype pages only, and will give mediocre results when used on other pagetypes.

Also, the layout problems you’re seeing aren’t caused by a copy protection, but rather incompatible margins that can be fixed using CSS. You can reduce the blank space using CSS, but without a published page I can’t give you the correct code (as I need to see a published page in order to know the class names you’d need to target).

Cheers,
Erwin

Turned off hide bottom tint and the space shrunk about 50or more acceptable…

Tried inserting a search engine in 1LD clean menu - did not work - wants to see a logo or title only

Decided to use clean menu for now and save on spending $80 for foundation… and having to learn a new system… like 12-15 introduction videos…

Happy :smiley:

Aspen still working for me in 2025 :slight_smile:
