Stack, plugin, or anything that could help creating a dialogue forum on my site

Hi,

I am building a site with restricted member access. It is a site for the use of a genealogical society. I am using RW6, Stacks3 and Foundation.

I am looking for a way to create a dialogue and discussion forum for members within that site. It would be very nice if the dialogue could be separated into a few main subjects, and it would be very nice if the dialogue was saved so a later search could be possible.

I think I am thinking about something similar to this Realmac forum site we are working in right now, but in a way so it could be a part of my genealogy society site.

Anybody who have great ideas

Hi @peterkroman,

Did you have a look at https://disqus.com already?

Cheers, Jannis

Thanks @instacks

I am working on it right now.
I have made a theme with Tumblr, and I am right now on the " Configure Disqus for your community" page, but I can’t get it working.

Don’t know what I am doing wrong

Hi,

I have found the code to be added to my page to make Disqus work, but not being a code guy, I hope that someone can assist me on how and where to place this code.

It says:

  1. Place the following code where you’d like Disqus to load:

Please enable JavaScript to view the comments powered by Disqus.
  1. Place the following code before your site’s closing tag:

Where do you want currently to place the disqus comments? On a Stacks page?

Yes. I need to place it on a Stacks page

Then the best is to place a default/inbuilt HTML Stack from YourHead onto that page and place there the disqus scripting part, starting with

/** * RECOMMENDED CONFIGURATION VARIABLES: EDIT AND UNCOMMENT THE SECTION BELOW TO INSERT DYNAMIC VALUES FROM YOUR PLATFORM OR CMS. * LEARN WHY DEFINING THESE VARIABLES IS IMPORTANT: https://disqus.com/admin/universalcode/#configuration-variables */

and continuing…

Thanks a lot Jannis @instacks

It works

Can I ask you to help me once more?
It is recommended to set some variables in the code, and I have found an instruction page for that. But I really don’t understand much of what it says.

I hope that you can guide me a little with that

The instruction page is this: https://help.disqus.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2158629

I know these ones, you should only changes these if you really know what you do.

For know, the disqus comments are connected to the URL of your Stacks page. As soon as the URL changes, these are lost.

Thanks Jannis,

Are you familiar with Disqus?

Could I ask you to make a Disqus comment on this page: http://genealogiskforum.dk/forside_medlemmer/dialog/

And perhaps you know how to create a new thread

Thanks for your help Jannis
