Stacks in RW 7.5.7 can't publish

Hi,

still using RW 7.5.7 but now when I want to publish an update it cannot connect to Stacks.
It says it cannot find “help.realmacsoftware.com”.
Last time I published an update was end 2024. I still have three sites that work with RW 7 and I dont feel like building them from scratch in Elements.
Anyone an idea to solve this?

Cheers, theo

Hi @Tov0811,

What system are you trying to run RW 7 on? If it’s anything from the past few years, it won’t work. In fact, I’m surprised you managed to open your project at all…

If you’re still using it on an older system you might just need to re-enter your FTP details. Can you post a screenshot of the error here?

Hi Dan,

I already renewed the ftp details, also contacted the host if there was something wrong but there wasnt. Two months ago I managed to update a single site and that went okay but all of a sudden not anymore. Is it possible to run RW 7 on Sequoia? if so than I can just drop the whole package on the new mini.

No, RW 7 won’t run on Sequoia…

Have you tried exporting the site locally and using a third-party FTP app, like Cyberduck or Transmit?

Kinda confused on why you’ve got your website address listed as help.realmacsoftware.com. Are you trying to publish to our domain, or is that just an example? :slightly_smiling_face:

Are you trying FTP or SFTP? Looks like your web host is Webreus, if you are using FTP, see if they offer SFTP and try connecting with that instead, it’s usually more stable.

on the bottom of the first picture you see a question mark, I pressed that and got that address. I assumed that something within the software was trying to connect to that site.
I didn’t try updating to your site.
I will contact Webreus tomorrow to see if they have sftp.
Thanks.

Pity.
I will try Cyberduck tomorrow.
Thanks Dan.

Got it. I thought you might be previewing the site using the built-in preview function, so wanted to check to make sure everything in your publishing settings was correct.

If you can’t get it sorted with Webreus let us know. RapidWeaver 7 is quite old but if we can help get your publishing working we will.

If you want to check out RapidWeaver Classic on your new Mac Mini, you can try the demo version by downloading it from here The Best Website Builder for Mac - RapidWeaver Classic. You could test your FTP connection to see if it’s working in the newest version. RapidWeaver 7 project files should be able to be converted to RWC format without issue. Depends on what third-party plugins you are using. Give it a go though and let us know. :slightly_smiling_face:
