Sorry to be so newb-ish with the following, but having a hard time with Elements over the old versions that were so newbie intuitive. Drag and drop, bam… Easy.
Hoping someone can lend me a hand, or tell me how to fix my problem using a template.
As I am struggling to get any layout to work or look decent, I Downloaded a template as more a tutorial and to just get something going. the major problem is the menu on the exported site does not match the pages I created, it defaults to the templates page layout. I have looked for solutions, but just can’t figure it out. I just want a manual override, or a page that is the menu that forces the component in the layout to match the sidebar page structure.
What I did… After opening the template, I duplicated the pages that worked for what I wanted, renamed them, then deleted the others that did not work for the need. I dropped in the graphics I wanted on the new pages, etc etc. BUT when I export a folder of the site to my desktop I have two major problems":
A: The menu doesn’t match the pages in the sidebar I created. In the browser it shows the templates default menu. I have clicked “Mark all pages as resources have changed” and done that while holding option as well. How do I force the menu button to follow the pages in the sidebar? If i drag a menu from the global area, that to is based off the templates menu not the actual pages in the site.
B: When I click the index.html file from the exported site, the home page loads in my browser, although with the wrong menu links. there are some buttons on the page that link to galleries separate from the menu. WhenI click one of these, rather than go to the page it opens a page asking me which index to use… If i then click index.html it loads the correct page.
I have never had this isssue with exporting to desktop then proofing on the old versions of Rapidweaver such as 7 or 8. So what have I done wrong that this is happening as well?
Tried to embed photos but get error saying that is not possible…
Gunther welcome! We were all newbies to strat with so dont worry! You have lots of questions going on here. It is best to post pics or better still upload the file so people can look and help. If it’s a theme from a vendor post that here too and they’ll help you direct. Good luck!
The reason you probably can’t upload screenshots yet is because you’re still new to the forum. That’s something @dan or @differentdan could possibly change for you.
Without screenshots or the project file, it’s naturally a bit difficult to provide proper help. So as a tip from me:
Take a look at the following video. It should give you a pretty good overview of how to build your website with RW Elements in the best and fastest way.
Thank you for your replies, welcome, and the info… As i mentioned and it seems i need access to post pics, when I tried I was given error messages, so here goes 3rd try
nope… get error message: “You can’t embed media images in posts”
(Image a graphic here of the templates hamburger menu on a sidebar and the drop out page nav layout that does not match the current revised pages of the edited site from the template, but shows the page nav layout from the original template that were deleted.)
So for now I deleted the templates built menu and then drug a menu from the resources that sits across the top of the page which pulls from the current page layout
What i want to fix, is to make the templates hamburger menu match the actual page layout not the templates original page layout that no longer exists but in the menu. This is what i can’t find, how to revise a template so that it matches the page edits.
1 - The hamburger menu is from the template and what I would like to use.
2 - When the hamburger menu is clicked, the flyout menu shows the pages from the template. NOT the pages that are listed in the sidebar.
3 - This is what the page breakout is in the sidebar now after deleting the original pages.
MY QUESTION:
So I get the menu button is a “Global” item, but how do I make it line up with the pages, or be in sync with the pages that are in the sidebar now, and not show the old page break out that no longer exist except on that menu.
Is there a “Force link” button or the like to make the nav button match the page list?
If I drag a menu item from the design module resources, or components area that menu shows the current page list, but I cant make it look like the hamburger menu… Just have to drag it to the top.
If this is the Studio template with the sidebar menu, you’ll need to build the menu manually. Weaverpixel can send you a brief document detailing how that’s done (assuming that it’s the Studio template)
