July 4 and Tailwind 4 sound good together! Looking forward to the future updates.
A long time ago, I researched this and found that 4.2 is what you would want as a minimum for trying to release commercial software
A safer route which I think I would do if I was running a company would be 4.3 the third version
So I just looked it up and they’re on 4.2 right now if 4.3 comes out and it looks good and there aren’t any major changes then I would look to elements but then you would also have to give them development time of months
So realistically with tailwind, I wouldn’t be expecting anything for a long time… In my personal opinion
not sure where you looked but their website and playground use 4.3
Used Siri - said 4.2 - is 4.3 a beta? Or released version?

A big plate of stuff ![]()
That’s where you mess up, you asked Siri…![]()
Are there any particular Tailwind 4 features you guys want? Obviously Masks are a big one… anything else?
Radial/conic gradients would be nice.
Oh course, new gradient support is also a must!
Just imagine if we’d been working on Tailwind 4 support and AI at the same time, now wouldn’t that be something…
3D transform utilities, opening the door to card-flipping animations, unfolding menus, and parallax-like interactive depth
Standard transition-all classes to create pulsing, shifting, or rotating gradient backgrounds over time
Conic and radial gradients
Container queries (animation)
TW4 3d card flip, etc

Light-Dark switch.
Will the new build engine in Tailwind 4 translate to better performance in Elements? Might be a totally different method in native Elements though.
That is not to do with Tailwind 4, it’s more to do with how we compile Tailwind for dark mode at export time. It’s on our list, but it’s not urgent as we believe the right way is to let the system handle dark and light mode as set by the users preference.
Yes, it’s quite possible, you’ll have to give it a test when we ship!
I would love to see Theme Studio and Typography support for variable width fonts. Tailwind 4 adds support for font-stretch-xxxx classes to handle this. This would allow for handling an entire site with one variable self-hosted font.
Once Tailwind 4 is in Elements do we need to republish all files for our website?
My guess - yes…
New format - new code
It would happen as you update your website….
It will just happen automagically when you next publish an update to your website ![]()
