Third Party Shop

I presume the work required to open the Elements app store to third parties is taking more work than expected to get right, which is obviously the better option than opening it prematurely and there being major issues, but is there a new estimated date for it?

Apologies if this has been announced elsewhere but I can’t find it.

If you watched the last video cast the moustachioed twins they did say they were going to concentrate on getting the App more sorted e.g. typography, CMS etc at the start of the year and then go back to shop. I don’t personally agree with this as it’s stifling third party developers innovation. Thats just my opinion though.

Focusing on improving the App and growing the Elements user community, striving for the 5,000 user goal (as suggested by @Doobox ), is the key to this app’s true success. Having 4 or 5000 active users is a different incentive if you have to dedicate your time to an app and support the business model proposed by RMS in the internal store.

RMS’s vision extends beyond the current horizon, and that’s why I work with Elements!

There’s a universe of designers waiting to use Elements, and this category doesn’t yet exist in this nascent community. This depends on the development of the core app, not the external components.

We need to be patient. Elements has enormous potential, and RMS is a small company and needs time. They’re doing things right, in my opinion.

PS: ‘Custom’ components are already on the market. Thinking that they’re no longer important or that they’re wrong to use because their code is accessible is a huge obstacle that slows down development.
Anyone who can produce should also do so with custom components, where you show your code and are more useful to others.

It is also the right way, at this stage of development, to combine business and training for the community.

I agree what you’ve said and some of the things you have done are amazing. I also agree with your view on custom components as I have posted lots of free ones on here as I love to learn and sometimes get stuck and this community helps. But I am not a developer nor a coder just a copier and paster and always look to third party developers innovation which I am not seeing a great deal of exception for a few regulars at moment. So my opinion is based on a user view not a developer view.

@PMUK :folded_hands:
We both have a lot of enthusiasm to manage for Elements :slight_smile: That’s a positive thing, and thanks for your kind words.

In any case, you’re right, and there are more developers working under the hood out there. we are discussing it privately and share the components development.
